This is something I would never think of.  Like you said– in 10 years (more like 2) this will be irrelevant.  Worry about the things you can control, and if it bothers you that much, maybe have a good backup name?  Good luck.

I completely understand what you mean. I am not pregnant, but I hold my breath everytime a friend, coworker, or even a celebrity is about to announce their baby name! With celebrities I don’t think its so much that I don’t want someone to think I named my kid after their baby, but more that I am afraid it will make the name super popular and then everyone will have it. We have names picked out and I’m hoping no one is going to ‘take’ them. Yes, I know that sounds absolutely ridiculous.

I read that Kate’s predicted girl names are Victoria, Alexandra, Elizabeth, Diana and Mary.

As long as your name doesn’t start with a K, I don’t think you should worry. I also don’t think it matters much anyway.

Meh. My favorite Girl name was Bella and then Twilight came out and I felt like I couldn’t use that name anymore.
Now my favorite name is Aria and Game of Thrones has an Aria and so does Pretty Little Liars, and I am NOT changing it just because its been used.

If Kim uses Aria (which I REALLY doubt) I will still love the name. My other favorite girl name is actually Kendall, which is her sisters name.

Is your name a K name?

I am sorry but who cares what some wanna be celebrity is going to name her kid.  Pick a name you like.  That is all that matters right?

Pretty sure Kim will end up picking a really weird name.

I have this fear but I’m due before her and Kate.. still though, if let’s say one of them names their baby the same as what I name mine there will be a huge influx of popularity with the name and that part sucks.

I don’t care so much that they will share a name with a celeb kid, it’s that all of a sudden there will 20 kids with the same name in my kids class. We don’t know what we are having though and it looks like both Kim and Kate are having girls (well.. Kate according to that slip she had) so if we have a boy we shouldn’t have anything to worry about!

@ExcitedScaredBee:  I’m sure her baby will have a stupid name that seeks attention, so you don’t have to worry. Just in case, maybe you could find 2 names that you love. What’s the chances you couldn’t use either? Also, I don’t pay any attention to celebrity culture, so I only get what I know from people at work and friends. I would be pissed if someone thought I’d name my kids after a celebrity’s…I don’t even know what their kids are called! Though I did hear of Apple, I think. Does your name start with a K? 😛 Seriously though, I pity that kid being born into a cesspool of media whores.

@ExcitedScaredBee:  OP, I read somewhere that they were not considering any K names. SO maybe if your name is a K name you’re safe! I understand the paranoia though, I feel it whenever I hear someone’s new baby name too…and I’m not even pregnant or ttc for another year or so. But I’m a name enthusiast, perhaps like yourself, and care a lot about keeping my baby’s name “special” and unique to them. Crazy, yes, impossible, probably, but you can’t control your feelings. Just try not to let it get to you, you have time and chances are extremely slim for Kim or Kate to choose your fave name anyway.

If I had to place bets I would say she is going to name her baby …..Kim…..that seems like the sort of self loving thing she would do.

Ooh or Kimye or Kanyim

@ExcitedScaredBee:  I am guessing because she is a celebrety and you know how celebrities name their kids after fruits and the fact that her SO is so weird, she most likely wont take your name.  Dont worry, my dear!
