I always thought it was wierd on the show Say Yes to the Dress when the brides would come in for fittings and they’d be very nervous to try on their dresses. They werent sure if they would still love the dress as much as they did the first time they tried it on…
Well now I find myself with that same fear! I know i LOVE my dress, and i LOVED it when I tried it on- I felt like a princess.
But after seeing so many other gorgeous dresses, and hearing some less-than-enthused responses to the pictures of me in it, I can’t help but admit that somehow I am afraid that when I try it on again when it arrives next month…that I won’t be as thrilled! What if that happens?
Has this happened to any others? Is anyone else scared of the next time they try on their dress, months and months after first ordering it?

Hi! Yes! I actually had a post a couple months back about how I knew I loved my dress on me but when I saw pictures I was like oh no!! But I went back and I tried on the dress when it came in and I still loved it. You will too!

@CountryBee: I hope youre right!!
I’m glad you still loved your dress. 🙂

I know what you mean! I bought mine off the rack, so I can put it on whenever I like (although it’s being stored at my SIL’s house). I am totally scared to put it on again though. I keep looking at the pictures of me in it and looking at other people in their dresses and thinking I made a horrible mistake.
I think if you felt good about yourself in it though, you will be fine.

@Keltaena: It’s so easy to get wishy-washy when it comes to the dress- it’s such an important part of the wedding for most of us, i’d say…the expectations get kind of out of control…

Yes, I go through this a lot and am getting so anxious about my dress coming in. I did recently go back and look at the pictures of the 15 dresses I tried, and after being removed from all the pictures for a while, I realized that my dress was definitely THE dress! 🙂 So hopefully when she gets here, I’ll still feel the same way!

I think most of us feel this way
I feel apprehensive cause I am afraid it wont fit. I have gained like 5 lbs and its a corset so it will be fine but I want to feel pretty motba heffer

I’ve lost about 15 pounds since I last tried the dress on. When I was measured, they put me a few sizes too big for my midsection because of my very abundant chest. I’m really worried that the corset-like top won’t look right once it’s altered or that the lines on it will be super far apart because I had to buy it so large. Eeek!
I’m excited for it to come in, I’m just super nervous too. The sample I tried on was a 12 and it was way too small for my upper half, and I’m wondering what the 16 will look like! The stupid thing was supposed to come in around February, and it’s still not in! Uggh.

I had my first fitting last Saturday, and I’m still nervous! It’s hard to picture yourself in a dress that doesn’t really fit. It scares me everytime I think about it. You’re totally not alone!

I’m just afraid that my dress is going to look different new and not beaten up by thousands of brides trying it on. I saw the model in my dress afterwards and I was like… hmm, that looks different. It was much more pouffy, and just not what I wanted. So I’m hoping I can either beat it back down, or they made it pouffy for the model. Eeeh!

I just bought my dress yesterday, and today I deleted all the pictures off my computer! I still have them on the phone, but I’m more likely to keep looking at the pics over and over again if it’s on my laptop. I find that I usually start thinking “oh I wish it was like this…” or “what if the dropped waist was a little higher”… etc if I keep looking at the pictures over and over again. I am sure I will love the dress once it comes in, in the right size!

@corals: I know what you mean, I stopped myself from looking at all the pictures of me in the dress! I banned myself…Ive been obsessing.
Glad to see I’m not the only one who feels this way! The wedding dress is just this idealized, incredibly important element of the wedding and will also determine how we feel on that day…not totally, but….you know….

YES YES and YES! I was so worried about my dress! When I went to try it on for the first time when it finally came in it didn’t look right on me and the organza was all stiff. I was so upset because I thought the dress was made in a different material than the sample that I had tried on. I thought that the dress was made for someone with a different body than me. Also the dress was hemmed so I had to wear flats which isn’t a big deal, thank goodness because my fiance is not too much taller than me. My second fitting was today. I was not looking forward to it at all but alterations did wonders! The dress seemed to have the shape it had when I tried on the sample that was clipped to me and my shape. Although I am still making changes: putting organza straps on and will have the belt fixed next time because I realized in the pictures we took today that it was crooked (which was probably done in alterations when they made the dress smaller.)
I am definitely like one of those Say Yes to the Dress brides who freaked out because they thought they got something that wasn’t exactly what they ordered. I do have to say though that the boutique did make a mistake about the length because I had told them I didn’t order my shoes yet and might wear up to 2 inch heels and that would be impossible with the way the dress came in.
BUT hold out your expectations/final opinion until the 2nd alterations fitting. I am in love with my dress again after today, as anyone can tell b/c I am on weddingbee at 1:30am b/c I can’t sleep b/c I am that excited! 😛

Um yeah. My dress isn’t due to arrive until JULY. Ugh.
To make it worse I have no pictures of me in it. Only one on MOH’s phone and it’s pretty crappy quality.
To say I’m freaking would be an understatement.

@bonbonisinlove: I’m so glad you’re happy and excited!! Glad your 2nd fitting went well!
That’s good to know- that if duing the 1st fitting magic doesn’t happen…doesn’t mean anything, I just might need some better alterations…
