- Wedding: September 2013
Finally, after a little over 5 years (6 days to be exact) I can start wedding planning and being happily engaged!
My Fiance and I could not do anything for our 5 year anniversary the weekend of because of other plans and events so we decided to go camping at Allegany State Park the next weekend. Fiance had always wanted to go in the winter and we both love camping so it was perfect. Plus I figured a light dusting of snow would make for a beautiful trip.
Anyway, we left Saturday morning to start the hour and a half drive up to our cabin. We got there, got settled, and built a nice warm fire so we could sit and enjoy the cold outdoors. Fiance and I were standing by the fire, his arms around me, talking about how wonderful it has been to be together for 5 years and how much we love each….Then Fiance got down on one knee behind me and I had no idea so I turn around to ask him what he is doing but stopped short when I saw him. He asked me that question, “Will you marry me?” and of course I said yes! Of course I cried and a little while after opened a bottle of champagne to celebrate. I didn’t even get to see my ring right away since I was jumping up and down and we were outside in the near dark. But it was perfect and very us. All while our puppies played in the background, no clue as to what was going on. We didn’t have cell service where we were so I had to wait until the morning to take a drive and tell everyone. Only my parents knew since he talked to them that morning. All of my friends and family were excited and genuinely happy for us.
Below are some pictures from the weekend, including our cabin complete with Christmas lights 🙂 The next day we enjoyed a nice walk by the lake. (Pardon my appearance, we were in the woods pretty much alone and it was cold. I had no one to impress. Plus my big furry hat was warm.)
I love how they are both looking at me probably thinking, “What are you doing mommy?”
I couldn’t get a great picture of my ring but I LOVE it. It sparkles like crazy. I’ll add more pictures when I get them.
