- Wedding: September 2012
Hey all my lovely bees! I am so happy to be back with good news!
I’ve been MIA for a while now: First because I slipped off of the platform and shattered my elbow while trying on wedding dresses in January; and then because I was feeling so horribly depressed and hopeless about wedding dress shopping, and just how unfair it all was. Even before the broken bones, I faced a lot of body shaming and condescension about my weight while dress shopping, and it picked right back up when I started shopping again once I could move my arm enough. Consultants acted like I should be happy they had any dresses “big enough” for me to try on, and that I should just settle for whatever they had that fit. I was really starting to think that settling was my only option, and it felt awful.
But then! Last Friday, I went shopping with my BFF/bridesman, and I tried on 6 pretty dresses that all fit and looked great on me 🙂 But as soon as I put on MY dress, I knew it was the one! It had everything I was hoping for – a fitted waist, just the right amount of detail for me (and our sunset outdoor wedding), and most importantly, a pretty flowy skirt. Moreover, it made me HAPPY. I felt like it was made for me, and I just did not want to take it off 😀 It was so gorgeous, and made of such wonderful fabric, that I was sure it would be too expensive. I asked the price, and it was actually BELOW budget!!! Bees, it was one of the happiest moments I’ve had in ages!
So here is my dress:
(pardon the closed eyes and the too small top – I ordered a larger size so there won’t be so much boobage hehe)
