@McBezel:  That style is gorgeous! I’m a fan of the big bun, but I’d say I like that one even more 🙂

It’s hard to give advice with out seeing what you’re talking about but I did the opposite of what you did. At my first trial I did my hair down and curly, and everyone said it looked like how I always do my hair. The second time around I did an updo and it felt much more bridal. I feel like I would regret it after if I just did my every day hair.

The updo you posted looked very formal which is maybe why you felt like it wasn’t you, maybe you could just try something looser and less formal?

@McBezel:  You’ll never know until you try! It sucks that it cost so much money though. I was devastated when realized I had to get another trial. Good luck!

@McBezel:  Omgsh don’t cry! It’s just hair, the day of it won’t be as big of a deal as it is now.

I have very prominent features, and if I pull my hair back completely away from my face, I look like I’m about 57.  You can see every blemish, how crooked my nose is, and my huge forehead.  It is much, much more flattering to leave some hair down when I pull it back.  I have sideswept bangs right now, and a few pieces that are chin-length, and when I leave those bits down and style them, I look like I’m about five years younger than I am.  You can have an updo!  It’s all about finding the updo that’s right for you. 🙂

@McBezel:  I felt the same way, I wanted to love the updo but I felt about a million years old.  My hair is curly so for my hair trial it was blown out straight and then put up.  I tried so hard to like the updo but as soon as I pulled all 700 pins out I felt so pretty with my hair down.  Decision made, I’d rather look good than “bridal.”

Didn’t hurt that one of my (male) roommates said to me later that day “you should definitely wear your hair down, it looked better down than up.”  Guy perspective, I’ll take it.
