After birth, how long did it take for your belly to get back to normal?

The bad news:  Your belly is not going to go back to its original “normal.”  The muscles get stretched, and even if you go back to the same size, the shape will be a bit different.

That being said, I was back to my prepregnancy skirts within three weeks after each birth–with no exercise and no girdles.  I was breastfeeding, which helped.

But it’s very individual, based on everything from how much weight you gained, to how big the baby was, to your skin’s natural elasticity.

@HappyBride827:  mine is different. It took me four months to get back to my normal weight and I was exercising and breast feeding.

I’m 6 months pp & I still have an extra 20-25lbs of weight and I wear a size (or 2) larger than before.

I pump exclusively, and I found that when I cut calories my supply went down.

I exercise, but not as regularly as I’d like.  I am training for a half marathon so I can crank out a good 10 miles- I feel like I’m healthy, but I’m still just… bigger.

Granted, I gained 50lbs while pregnant so I have a lot to lose, but I exercised while pregnant (even did a half marathon) and I went over a week past due and DD was over 8lbs.

Part of the issue is that my skin is still kind of flabby, but part of it is that I’m not lifting weights or counting calories right now.  I think I’ll get back to that when I wean.
