It took me about a week to get my period after going off the pill. I went off about mid-June. I had a week with terrible migraines last week and I've been breaking out more. I'm guessing that you are just spotting from being off the hormones right now.
I think that sounds pretty normal-- your cycle was probably thrown off track coming off the hormones. Since I've been off BCP my cycles have ranged from 25–35 days, a much bigger spread than I ever had on the pill.
If it gives you some comfort there's no harm in taking a pregnancy test, though-- I order the cheap ones from Amazon even though we're not TTC. Being off the pill makes me a nervous nellie and I like having plenty of sticks to pee on!
I recently got off it two weeks ago after being on it for 13 years. I was having dark color spotting and tender breasts. Now Im nervous that my cysts are coming back or I have a bladder infection. Im goign to the Docs today to see what my deal is. After 2 weeks of being off it, Ide say Im a little moody, no break outs, feeling bloated.
I've been off since October and my cycle is still funky. I'm sure that it doesn't take most people this long though, and I'm going to the doctor Fri. But yes, I had crazy bad breakouts on my face and back that have mostly cleared up now (but still no perfect skin like on the pill). I had cramps at first, then the last two months I haven't had any (which is unusual for me). My headaches are gone though (BC caused them for me). It's like anything goes for coming off BC and everyone is different. My first period after coming off the pill (besides the withdrawal bleed) took about 50 days. One cycle went as long as 85, and none have been before 40 days. The last two periods I've had did have the weird spotting (and I've NEVER spotted before) for a few days before my period actually started. It has been really annoying and I'm just praying AF doesn't show before Friday so that I can get in to see the dr. (last appointment I made I had to cancel because of this). I'm at day 45 or something.
The first few months are usually pretty out of whack! I came off the pill, had a withdrawl bleed, then had my period a month later. BUT, I spotted before that, after that and had all sorts of pill-withdrawl symptoms. Had bad cramping, moodiness, and some other things I can't remember now. Usually, it takes a good few months to get to somewhat normal or normal again. Some women take even longer. You can get pregnant right off the pill, so it wouldn't hurt to take a test just to see.
I came off the pill last year and my 1st cycle was 41 days. So far, Fertility Friend says my average cycle is 34 days, but they've mostly been 34 to 41 days long.
My 1st period off, I had MAJOR cramps. It was like, I can't imagine, especially since I was used to the BC periods.
I was also on BC for 10yrs.
Did any of you go off mid-pack? I would have my period during the honeymoon, so I'm skipping it and starting a new pack, but I really want to stop after the first week. Is there any reason no to? We're going to TTC right away.
@Sarah I did! I went off mid-pack right after we returned from our honeymoon. I had breakthrough bleeding (like a period) for a few days. Then I spotted a lot off and on and finally had a period about 5 weeks later. Haven't had one since because I just found out Sunday I'm pregnant. Only thing with trying to conceive right away after the pill-well there are two things I read. 1) It'll be harder for them to know your conception date if you get pregnant right away after stopping the pill 2) You may not ovulate for awhile after stopping the pill Other than that, I read it's perfectly fine to ttc right away.
Hmm, interesting! Sounds like it really is unique to everyone and I probably shouldn't expect a regular cycle yet. I guess I'll just wait and see, though I should probably buy a pack of tests just to have, and maybe take one soon. Thanks ladies!
It actually took 3 months before my cycle was back on track.
I stopped mid pack. I didn't see any reason for waiting, though I didn't consult with a doctor or anything. We aren't TTC either though, so I wasn't worried about it in that regard.
I stopped after the 4th day of a new pack. My acne reared up again, which I'm hating. I had a normal, on-time period, as if I was still on the pill. No real change in period symptoms, mood, etc... I'm at the end of my second cycle and we are TTC.

Sorry, there are no users yet.
I know it's probably different for everyone, but I'm curious people's experiences. We're not TTC yet but I went off the pill this past month (just stopped after my last pack), and I've yet to get a period... I should have last Wednesday if I were on a 28 day cycle. I've been having PMS'y symptoms (breaking out) for almost a week now. Is that normal?
How long did it take you to get your first period after going off the pill? And when you did, was it a normal period? Sorry if TMI but I've had some strange spotting that is not period but is not quite regular discharge either (slightly period-colored). I can't figure out if it's just my body trying to normalize or if I should buy some pregnancy tests. Any insight would be helpful- I have a doc appt but it's not for a few weeks. Thanks!
