How exciting! What types of rings did you try on? Did you decide on a style you like?

I remember ring shopping, mostly online so that he got an idea of what I wanted.  Pretty exciting time. Smile

Did you settle on something you liked?

@EffieTrinket:  Haha get it … “set in stone”! That is a knee-slapper!

Ahem. Sorry. Let me get myself together.

Congratulations on going ring shopping! That’s a really big step! Be sure to let us know when it happens and share pictures!

@EffieTrinket:  Ooh the Amora Gem!! Well my fingers are crossed for you ladies in the US that you don’t have to wait until 2015 to get it. I can’t wait for Less to post which Auckland store will be stocking it because I really want to see it in person. Which cut/shape do you like out of the Amora gems? You can always do a classic shape stone(s) with an unusual setting or an unusual shaped stone(s) with a simple setting

Good luck looking in Dallas, I thought that was sort of an NYC place where bigger is better?Either way though there should (hopefully) be alot of stores and you should be able to find something unique if thats what you are going for.  Also I’ve seen a lot of estate sales lately and have thought of picking a few things up there. (For unique things.)  Oh and Etsy of course has a lot of lovely unique things. 🙂  So exciting though to have all those choices!

@AmuseMeMusically I actually live in Dallas, and the store you are referring to is “Robbins Brothers.” We have decided on a moissy, but I went there to try on rings to figure out what I liked/didn’t like, and that way I can find the comparable on the moissyco website. That is what I would suggest doing, but they are really nice there. I wouldn’t tell them you aren’t wanting a diamond though because you won’t really get the same service. I know that sounds a little shady, but unfortunately that is the business of sales. There are also some stores in Dallas that carry moissanite if you wanted to see it in real life. PM me if you have any questions 😉

The “Worlds Largest Engagement Ring Store” is Robbins Brothers. I actually got my wedding band there but we had my engagement ring made by an individual jeweler. I think it is great to look at all RB has to offer but I am happy that we saved a lot of money by having a designer make the ring.

(I got my engagment ring from Shapiro Diamonds in Dallas)

@EffieTrinket:  Robbins Brothers carries high end jewelry as well as jewelry that is the same price as the mall. The issue is that they want to show you the Tacori, Simon G and Michael M, you fally in love with it and then they tell you its $3-$4k for the setting. Then you say you want something less and its hard to be excited about the other stuff. Dont get me wrong, its still gorgeous but its hard to look at the rings you can afford after they show you the big guns.

It’s kind of like the #1 rule of dress shopping. Do not try on anything you can’t afford!

I think they may let you take the setting with the cz in it if thats what you want. A friend of mine bought his setting on sale at RB and got the diamond through a wholesaler.

RB also has a good web site so you know what you are getting yourself into before you go. You can also ask them to ship in a ring for you to try on if they dont carry it in the store but you see it online.

Good luck!
