- Wedding: December 2014
Hi everyone! I’m a new user, and I’ve been browsing the boards for ideas/opinions about the idea of doing a party after the wedding reception.
You see, we’ll be getting married in a church in December. We have a pretty big guest list (about 170), so I was thinking of just doing a cake and punch reception there at the church. While we take our formal wedding pictures in the sanctuary, guests could go on in and get punch and light finger foods. Then we’d come in and do things like socialize, cut the cake, toss the bouquet outside, etc.
Since my budget is pretty tight, I’m planning on having a party after the reception at an upscale bar. Everyone from the wedding would be invited, but I think that a lot of people (like elderly family members) would just go home after the church reception. At this after party I would pay a large portion of the bar tab and have more finger foods there, and probably a groom’s cake, and a small band.
If anyone has done something similar, I would love to hear how you organized this. In particular, how did you handle the invitation to the wedding/reception/party? Did you ask for RSVPs for each part of the day separately?
