@greenidlady:  we are actually having a “keg party” on the beach after our reception concludes.  This will still be held at our venue, it’s just an add on to our fee.  We don’t want anyone driving so we thought this was a great option (our venue is a resort so people are staying there)

Yup. We had our ceremony and reception in different parts of the same hotel (where all/most of the guests were also staying). After the reception we moved the partying down to the hotel bar. Not free anymore, of course, but it was really fun to mingle another hour or 2 with everyone again after the excitement. And those that didn’t want to hang around in a bar could just go back to their rooms.

    I voted “not sure”

I want to but it all depends on all the guest and of coure myself and my groom.

I’m having my wedding in Vegas and we might hit the strip a while after the reception, but it all just depends on who has any energy left. Also its a Mondy… so some may need to go home cause they will have work the next day….

I hope some will go to the “After Party” hang out on the Strip. ๐Ÿ™‚

we left our reception at 1030pm.. our limo bus came back to pick us up with our bridal party and some other friends. we rented the large one (32) so we could invite our closest friends to ride with us, and those that were staying at the hotel and we went downtown mpls to seven sushi ultralounge and rooftop bar. reserved a VIP spot and it was quite the turn up! a lot of friends even met us there on their own. we got back on the limo bus around 1:15am and went back to the hotel. (hotel was about 2 blocks away from reception site, but connected by skyways. tho those things are far too confusing) – were still hearing compliments about how much ppl loved the idea! i was also shocked that i had energy to go thru it.. FIL passed away 2 days before the wedding and the entire day i felt like i was just a zombie from so many tears and emotions but it was a really good way to ease up and celebrate with no pressure! probably my favorite part.

We did this! Our reception was meant to finish at 11pm, but it ended up going until 12.30am because no one wanted to leave and the DJ kept playing! We left the reception at 12.30am, and had already hired transport to take our guests to the afterparty, where everyone stayed until 2.30am.

I was exhausted by the time we got to the next location, so I didn’t enjoy myself that much. I was ready for a long shower and bed!

We are goi9ng back to the hotel then going to meet up with our friends at a bar nearby and hang out for a while. I’m pretty sure we’ll be stuck talking to family most of the night, and we’d like to celebrate with friends. We specifically planned our reception to end at 9 so we can do this.

I would love an afterparty, but am having a hard time finding a place since we’re getting married out of town. Anyone have a good suggestion for San Francisco???  ๐Ÿ™‚

We didn’t do this and I’m glad we didn’t. A lot of our guests left a lot earlier than expected (e.g. an hour before the actual “end”) so it would’ve been a waste and probably slightly embarrassing. We were also very tired from the day.

If your friends are regular partiers though, this would be a great idea. Unfortunately, we had a lot of guests with sitter issues, marathon scheduled, OOT drivers, etc.

I’ve totally heard of folks doing this, but to be honest, we cut our reception by half an hour because our guests danced themselves out and you could tell they were almost suffering through the last half hour (around 10:15PM lol) just to keep going for us.  I was super exhausted, too!  DH and I barely had any energy left by the time we got back to the hotel because it was just a looooooong day overall.  If you’re lucky enough to still have energy, I think it would be fun though!

Not sure.  Our wedding is on a Sunday.  IF anyone is up for an after-party, I am down.

Yep. We’re either going to make popcorn and stay at the venue longer and watch old movies, or we’re going to the bowling alley up the street for a game or two. I’ll probably still wear my dress for the movies or the bowling.

After the wedding everyone’s welcome to take a taxi back to the hotel where us and the OOT guests will be staying, the hotel has a bar with a band playing on weekends and if anyone’s up for it we will definitely be doing that!  Not for sure if I’ll have the energy tho!  I’m glad, even if we’re not that it’s available to our guests tho ๐Ÿ™‚
