Sounds like a cute idea...for me, the wedding dress was my only dress for the night. It was a gift from my parents and is the most expensive piece of clothing I've ever worn. I also knew that I would never get to wear it again, so I wanted to maximize my time wearing it.
I'm pretty sure I want a super-awesome LWD for the getaway. I pretty much decided this after my best friend got married and exited her (nice, classy) wedding in a velour sweatsuit! GAHH! It bothered me.
Hmmm I think that if I find something this summer in NY then I'll get it. But I won't go crazy looking for one either?
I have one. I love my wedding dress, but for that last hour or so of the reception I want to be able to go all out getting that last bit of mad dancing in and then make my escape!
Oh! My plan is to change before we go to the downstairs bar for their dance party!
I have two dresses so I'm thinking about shortening one so I can get some use out of it. Our wedding is in the afternoon so we might end up going out to eat later in the evening with a small group so I think I'd want to wear something special for that.
@CaitlinRivera i am with you, i am most likely going to go out with the closest friends right after our reception, so i am going to change into Alfred Angelo 2041!

I wore my wedding dress for the entire reception and didn't do a big send-off (we had an evening wedding and, not wanting to cut the party short, were among the last to leave the venue). I did change into a little white dress for our after party at a local Irish pub:
I need to try on my dress again... bah. From what I remember it is pretty uncomfortable so the comfort side says yes, change! But on the other hand it is the only time I'll ever get to wear a dress that costs 3 grand...
Decisions decisions!
I am having a weddingmoon with just the 2 of us so I won't need one there. But, I am getting something to change into at our at home reception. We will be going out with friends, at least to the hotel bar, after the reception. I've ordered this, but not tried it on IRL yet.
@jaimiemichelle i have to agree with you, i wanted to wear my dress all night too, as it was going to be the only day to wear it. My friends suggested going out for an after party and dragging my dress across town was not such a great idea! Do you have yo wear yours for a long time?

If we were going out or having an after party, sure, but our wedding will be going past midnight. No point in changing! h
i really want one but everyone else hates the idea,....so....not for me. :)

Girls I LOVE YOUR DRESSES!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going to search for a dress and if I can find one that I like for under $100 then I'll get it. Suggestions are welcome!

My gf just got married and had the cutest white dress for their "get away". I am thinking of doing the same! I'd like a short strappy or strapless white dress. Any suggestions? How many of you are getting an "after-wedding" dress?
