- Wedding: November 2011
I am planning on having an after party at a nightclub following my wedding reception with a cash bar. My wedding reception ends at 9pm and I know that I will want to continue on into the wee hours of the night. Luckily my fiance is in the nightlife industry and has arranged for a club to open their doors to us on a night that they are not typically open for a cash bar. Here is my dilemma.
Is it ok to have a cash bar for this? Our reception includes an open bar, cocktail hour and four course meal and goes from 4 to 9pm. I was thinking that we would have covered enough of the cost at this point and obviously the after party is optional.
Is it ok to invite acquaintances to the after party? Since my fiance and i are both in nightlife we have ALOT of acquaintances and co workers who we would love to celebrate with but cannot afford to invite to the actual wedding.
If you agree that its ok to invite these people to the after party, do you feel I can make invites for this? I would not mail them out, I would hand them to those I wish to attend who were not invited to the wedding and explain the situation… That the wedding is for family and close friends but I would love for them to celebrate with us afterwards. (the wedding is 160ppl, but I dont know how else to explain it to them). Is this tacky? Would you be offended? Should I just have the after party for wedding guests?
And finally… If you think all of this is ok, do you have any idea of where I can find After party invites??
Thanks so much for your help!!!
