Just curious what the age differences are out there between you and your FI/DH/SO?
I am only 30 but DH is 36. so 6 years here.
I honestly don't see it as a difference at all - but when someone asked me earlier they were like "wow, I didn't realize he was that much older than you...
Now see I think like 10 or 15 is a "that much older" sort of reply...but anyways - it's all good I'm just really curious what the differences are on the 'bee!
Haha, there's about a year and a half between me and my FH, I'm older.
i guess he is really "that much older"... FI is 10 1/2 years older than I. I'm 25, he's 36.
We have 16 years between us, I'm 28, FH just turned 44. It's not a big deal to us, it's just the way it happens to be :)
I'm 4 mo older than FI--- and I HATE it. :) I don't know why it bothers me soo much but it really does.
My husband is 7 years and 6 days older than me. People outside our circle think there is a bigger age difference because he looks older than his age and I look younger than my age.
I think our age difference is perfect for us.
My FI is 3 years older than I am. It makes a little bit of a difference, because we're still pretty young. Like he graduated college and got a full time job before I finished. But we've done pretty well at growing together.
I don't see 6 years as a huge difference either though.
SO is eight years older (21/29). I notice an age gap between me and his friends, but I've completely forgotten about it between the two of us! It weirded my friends out at first, but everyone is used to the idea at this point. My family was always supportive.
Sometimes it will be strange, like when the snowstorm hit this past weekend. We were talking about the last big blizzard in 1996, and he pauses. "Wait...you were eight years old then. And I was in high school! *laughs*"
Another great quote. His friend said to him "If you had found the right girl the first time, you could have kids by now!"
And MinMan responded, "If I had found the right girl the first time, I would be in jail!"

But aside from some social differences and him having his career in order, we were lucky enough to meet when we were both at similar points in our lives. One of the perks of being that much younger is I'll always seem youthful and sprightly! ;)
He is 38 days older than me LOL - so basically we are the same age!
I'm ten years older than my fiance and it truly just doesn't feel like it. When I first met him I had a few other guys around his age that asked me out but they seemed sooo young, he's different. My ten year relationship was with my high school sweetheart so we were only a month apart but then I started dating my daughter's dad who is fifteen years older than I am so I'm all over the place with age!
Im almost 28, he is 26. So Im about 1 year and 9 months older. We always joke that I robbed the cradle and Im his Cougar. : )
He is 7 years and 1 month older (he's 34, I'm 27). We don't see a difference at all, and if anything, it helps because we are both at a same place / maturity level.
Mr. Library and I are four months and two days apart. He's the oldest and he's turning 24 in six days!
@Minutiae - we're always joking about stuff such as the blizzard story...I am TOTALLY a child of the 80's and hate it when he tries to tell me I'm not...I was born in 1979 and as a CHILD I played with all the 80's toys - whereas I was a teenager of the 90's...
But he'll start saying how old he was when a certain song was popular or talk about when he was a senior in high school (1993) and I'm always like "yeah...I was only 12" when he was obviously 18 - which of course THEN would have been illegal...lol - but I LOVE your FI's quote about having found the right girl! lol. :D
we're about a year and half apart - but I'll be 24 and he'll be 26 when we get married (a week shy of my 25th birthday) so I tease him that he's marrying someone so much younger!
I'm 27 and FI just turned 25 in November - the difference is about 18 months total. When we first got together it was right after I turned 21. We'd been talking for a while and I hadn't asked him directly about age but had gathered from some various conversations that he was "about twenty." When we made things official, he confessed that not only was he not twenty, he hadn't turned 19 yet! We had a good laugh about it and then just moved on.
It doesn't bother me though it is a little weird because he's actually a few months younger than my little sister, and she constantly reminds us!
FI is 4 years and 10 months and 27 days older, so essentially we're 5 years apart. As minutiae said we too joke about the age difference. He's big on doing the where were you when . . . song came out and its like I was 11 and he's like yea I remember this being the first song I played in my first car. I'll be 25 when we get married and he'll be 30.
FI is almost 3 years older than me (2 years and 9 and a half months).
MY FI is 7 years older than me. He is 28 and I am 21. (: age is just a number.
We're 14 months apart, and I'm older (29/28). It never really bothered me till recently as I've started to get my first wrinkles (BIG partier and fan of fake baking in college) and FI still has his baby face. His close friend is dating a 22 or 23 yr old, and I know she thinks I'm ANCIENT...but that just means she'll get assigned a sucky seat at the reception;)
I'm 9 months older (35/34). Aside from the 3 months a year when we're the same age, he likes to tease me about 'robbing the cradle.' LOL!
i am 23 and he is 34! lol so yea he is 'THAT MUCH OLDER' oh well i love him and he loves me. just like every relationship we have our ups and downs. but age really is JUST A FREAKIN NUMBER!!!
He's 2 years and 9 months older than me. He thinks it's funny that I'm the same age as his "little brother" but at our ages, 2/3 years really isn't that much.
I am six years older than him. It doesn't make a huge difference in everyday life. But some things are funny when you think about them: I remember going to see E.T. in the movie theatre when I was 5 and he wasn't even alive yet!
He is 5 years older than me. I don't think it's a big difference at all.
We're 33 and 41, he's eight years older than me but I have more gray hair than him, LOL. The only time it's an issue is with music, he can't stand my taste in music and says that everyone sounds like they're screaming. So what, who cares?
SO happy to read that there are so many of you that have an age gap between you and your SO. We technically have a 10 year difference (I am 27, he is 37), but since it really seems (well in our case) that women mature faster than men, it feels like we are the exact same age. Age has never been an issue for us - in fact, our age difference makes me super excited because I love to tease him that "he will always have a hot younger woman" on his arm now!
7 years for us but we are both in our 30's. I think if we were younger, it just may not have worked since we were at such different stages.
FI just turned 28 and I'm 26. We're about a 1.5 years apart. Not a big difference.
