what about champagne? that is usually flattering, sinc ei telongates the leg instead of cutting it off
Navy and black shouldn't be worn together - it looks like you couldn't tell if one garment was black and accidentally mismatched. I love cannotwait's idea of champagne-colored shoes; that would look lovely. Could you also try to find something in plum, since that is your accent color? Shouldn't be too hard to find right now, since deep purple is the in color for fall.
Our ladies wore navy dresses w/ silver shoes. They looked fabulous and can be worn again. I picked up a pair of cute silver peep toes to wear w/ a purple dress to my brother's wedding and I'm so happy that I did. Super cute!
I love your bmaid dresses. I can't find prices online for any of the priscilla dresses, would you mind if I asked how much they cost?
Thanks!
The dresses were purchased at a boutique in Scottsdale, AZ, for around $245. It was far over what I was aiming for, but they were loving the dress. It's flattering on all of my bridesmaids, of several body types!
I agree with metallics- they're much more in and easy to find these days, plus they're usually rewearable. Just go with a toned down gold, silver or champagne.
Good luck
I also have navy dresses, and I do know that silver looks great with them, although they do not go with my colors. I think plum could be awesome. I am actually having them wear Kelly green heels, so I think its fine to have the shoes be a fun color.
I think plumb is a great idea. A suggestion...
Let's you shop a variety of online retailers in one place and you can select colors and styles to search by so that you're only looking for purple strappy's, or whatever style you decide on!

Hi ladies. I've been reading for awhile now, and finally must write a post due to my shoe quandry. I need some advice!
My bridesmaids have ordered their knee-length dresses (http://www.priscillaofboston.com/dress_detail.jsp?gid=51&sfid=50631&f=) in navy satin. I had planned on telling them they can wear whatever shoe they want, of a specified color and style (i.e., strappy). This has begun a very much unresolved conversation on the color of shoes to wear.
I ran several google searches on shoes to wear with a navy dress, and 1/2 of what I read pretty much said, "Never black, go with metallics." The other 1/2 said black was fine, and a large majority of them added that metallics were for clubs and going out, not weddings. I tend to think black would be the easiest, and wouldn't look so bad considering the men will be in black tuxes with navy vests. However, one of my bridesmaids is pretty much flat-out refusing to wear black, no matter what. On my part, I don't really like gold.
Our wedding is navy and ivory with plum-colored accents. It's in February, in the evening. Any advice from you thoughtful ladies? Is black the end of the world? Should I give up and not specify anything and see what happens?
