    Hi there,

Nice to meet you all.  I am getting married May of 2012, and we are still venue searching. We were hoping to have 125 guests at the wedding but could go up to 150 depending on the venue.

We have looked at a lot of places and now are debating between W Union Square and the Village Club of Lake Success.  We went to see the W, love it and we love the sales manager there, but we went to see the room set up for a wedding of 120 one night and it seemed very small and crowded.  Besides the wedding will have to be on a Friday night, not Saturday.  But the W ambience is all there and we both feel that it is very us.  I would love the wedding pictures in the city, and everything else I envision about my wedding would incorporate perfectly at the W.

Village Club is the right size - can be small for 125 or large enough for 150, it has outdoor area for our ceremony, it will be on a Saturday, and I heard that the food is pretty good.  It is very close to our parents' houses which makes them happy.  Other than that it's just another wedding hall and we might not get the city wedding pictures that we would like so much.  Price difference is negligible.

Having said this, has anyone else here looked at the W and decided not to do it there because it's small, even for 125 people?

I got married at The W Union Square last August!!!!  Are you talking about the cocktail hour space?  I had 115 people - the main ballroom was definitley large enough.  I had some initital concerns about the cocktail space, but not enough to keep me doing it from there - I actually went to my cocktail hour and didnt' see any issues at all - True, there wasn't seating for everyone, but there were some high tops and lower tables and the older people at my wedding were able to get seats.  Everyone was mingling and it was only an hour and went by so quick.   And everyone LOVED the W as a venue!   Let me know if you have more questions!!
