Is this her first pregnancy?   You show earlier with each successive one.  With my first, I was almost 5 months before I started wearing maternity clothes, with my second – 4 months on the money, and my third – 3 1/2 months.

I would talk to your salon and see what they have to say also.  If she will be walking into her 6th month by the time your wedding gets here she may need to order a size larger.  My BFF’s sister was way huge pregnant at her wedding and ordered 2 sizes larger and it worked for that particular style of dress.  Call the salon and see what they say.

She’ll be fine! My wedding gown is the same style (where the waist sits/skirt style), and there’s a ton of room in there. She probably won’t need it let out at all.

that’s the same dresses i got for my BMs, except the short version.

i took them all to AA and gave them the color and told them to pick any dress they wanted.

they all picked the same exact dress and all have different body types.  they dresses came in last week and look great on all of them.

i think the dress will be fine for your friend.  is there enough extra room in it?

@TwoStatesBride:  Is there a chance she can exchange it for a larger size? My bridesmaid found out she was preggers after already buying her dress and the salon allowed her to exchange for one 2 sizes up since she hadn’t had it altered yet. She definitely had a bump ( 1st pregnancy, and 20 weeks on wedding day ) but did end up having the dress taken in a little. In the end it fit her great.

I would think she should be ok with that dress, the style is pretty forgiving and should have room for her to grow.

@TwoStatesBride:  She will be her roundest UNDER her bellybutton, over where her uterus is. At 5 months, I wouldn’t worry. She likely won’t be showing much, BUT those dresses typically cannot be let out–the seams on most clothing are pretty small–especially not a few inches.

If there’s extra length, maybe they can shorten the bodice and make it more of an empire waist vice the natual waist shown. There’s lots of great flowy fabric below the waist so if they could hike it up, that’d be cool.

one of my bridesmaids found out she was pregnant after dresses were ordered.  she was 5 months pregnant at the wedding.  my bridesmaid dresses were floor length dupioni (so not chiffon) from alfred sung.  she was able to wear the dress at the wedding but she had to get gussets added to the sides.  fabric from hemming the dress was used for the gussets.  below is a picture of the dress.  (she looked great at the wedding.) i’m not sure how much alterations ended up costing on top of the dress.  i wore a monique lhuillier for nordstrom bridesmaid dress for my rehearsal dinner and it was $120 to hem the layers of chiffon.
