Every year at Christmas there are dozens of threads with guy gift ideas … I’m skimming a few, and here are some ideas:

-favorite tv shows on DVD/Blue Ray

-stuff with his favorite sports team on it

-“coupons” for dinner, movie, backrub, sex, ironing, favorite dessert, etc.

-tickets to a sporting event

-work clothes

-t shirts (check Threadless, BustedTees)

-mix tape CD, and write out why you chose each song

-magazine subscription

-lomography camera

-laptop bag

-engraved iPod (or other, new technology toy)

-art

-book

-cologne

-make him something, like crocheting a blanket

-nice bartending set

-microbrew of the month club

-framed picture of you or both of you

-weekend getaway

-a calendar

-money clip/wallet

-pilsner glasses engraved with his initials

-watch

-iTunes gift card

-Wii / other game system or games/accessories

-Blue Ray player

-a bicycle/kayak/etc

-board/card games

-pizza cookbook + pizza stone

-grilling stuff

-get his car detailed for him

-nice body wash/shampoo/etc

-portable dvd player

-a plant (a cool one, like a Venus Flytrap)

-a deep fryer

-old fashioned shaving set

-nice sunglasses

-camera

-sports equipment, like golf clubs

-music lessons/instrument

-“a cupcake and a blowjob” (<– direct quote, what one girl’s fiance told her he wanted)

-hot stone massage kit

-kindle

-valet (one of those leather boxes they toss loose change, keys, etc into on the dresser)

-luggage/luggage tags

-hiking jacket

-a puppy

Also, does he have an amazon wish list? Those can be lifesavers!

I second ThinkGeek, and add this site: http://www.thingsyouneverknew.com/

Okay, I’m tapped out 🙂

I am having this same problem in October as FI is turning 30 and I want to get him something amazing. A friend of mine got her bf a flying lesson for his 30th and he absolutely loved it so I think that’s what I’m going to get for FI. If you are interested Google, to see if they have such a thing in your area. Aparentls it is a couple of hours, and serves a flight introduction but at some point he will actually get to fly the plane. I feel like all men would love this and I know FI has mentioned he’d like to take flying lessons so it seems perfect, now I only need to figure out where to do it as the closest place to us is just over an hour away and another one is about 2 hours but in a more scenic area. Sorry for making this longer than necessary but I am very excited about the idea.

What are some of your FI’s hobbies?

My husband loves to golf so I’ve given him really nice drivers, gotten front row 50yd line tickets to our football teams home games.

This year as a pseudo wedding/early bday gift I got him a round of golf in one of Ireland’s nicest links course when we’re on our HM.

@slicey19:

I think any time (esp for the big 3-0) a “experience” is always the way to go.

For husband’s 30th we took him & I on a helicopter ride. It was SUPER awesome. Laughing

For brother in law’s 30th a couple years back we took him skydiving.
