I went ‘thrifting’ today and am so excited with my finds! My Fiancee is out of town and when I called him from Goodwill shouting about my frame finds, he was not nearly as excited as I was. So I needed to share with someone out there 🙂
I have been hard at work collecting mason jars, old apothecary type jars, hurricanes, etc. Anything that looks vintage for my ranch wedding. (We are doing long banquet tables with an eclectic mix of all size jars filled with wildflowers and candles on burlap runners)
I have been stymied by how to display table numbers. UNTIL TODAY. I was at the tiny Goodwill in Redmond, OR and found unopened, unused, pristine IKEA wood frames! First 5, then 8 then 14, 18… Could it be they could have 30 for all my tables? Nah that would be too lucky. Well by this time I had other women excited for me and looking through all the frames as well. With their help and 30 minutes later i had 29! 29 NEW UNOPENED IKEA FRAMES! COULD IT BE? 29 was close enough because then I realized I don’t need one for our head table!!!!
To make things even better, one of the women that helped me hunt down the frames helped me get a $1 discount off each (ASK FOR DISCOUNTS BRIDES!) So i ended up with 29 new Ikea frames for $1.99 each and no sales tax in OR! And didn’t have to drive 3 hours to the nearest IKEA! WOOHOO.
Now how to decorate them…

I love goodwilling, all of my centerpieces came from goodwills, and yes, I always ask for a discount. The manager at the local one knows me and will hold things back when he knows I am looking for things, right now, short champagne glasses.

Wow! I always wonder at places like Goodwill, “Hmm…I wonder who donated this? I wonder why they had 29 unopened ikea frames to get rid of?”
Great find though 🙂
