For the wedding I got a makeup artist with a package kinda deal. She did my engagement photos, will do my trial wedding day, and do the actual day of.
I got the airbrush for our engagement pics (and will for the day) BUT - I really liked it. It made your face very flawless and it can be as light or dark as you want. I really liked it. :)
I dont have any pictures on my computer of our engagement pics yet that I could show you. But it keeps everything Non shiney and what not.
I recommend it. :)
Mine was airbrushed and it was great! Light so I felt like I had no makeup on, but provided good coverage and also didn't come off even when I was a sweaty mess after busting serious moves on the dance floor.
that's what i was thinking because sometimes my foundation and blush starts to look cakey near the end of the day and i wouldn't want that for my wedding...
thats awesome that you found a package.. how much was it.. i'm from Canada so they prices will be different but i just wanted to know a range
I am from MI and just got a quote for $30 trial and $60 day of. The lady I got the quote from will travel to the site where we are getting ready also.
I got airbrush done for our engagement pics, and will get it done for the wedding. It was amazing!!! It lasts all day without touch up (other than lipstick) and I'm SOOO glad I did it.
My make up artist (JACbeauty.com) switched to airbrush recently and never looked back. She recommends it to all of her clients.
I'd be happy to send you some e-pic examples if you want to see. PM me!
I have been into makeup as a hobby and have been growing my makeup collection for about 3 years now. I finally gave in and asked for an airbrush system for Christmas this year. I did my makeup with it for the first time this morning and so far I LOOOOOVE it. I haven't worn it through the entire day yet, but my skin has never looked this good before and it doesn't look like it is budging a millimeter. I will take photos later tonight to see how it reacts to flash. Oh, and I plan on doing my own makeup with the airbrush system for my wedding if everything goes well with my trails. If course, I do not reccomend that for people who aren't that into makeup. The systems are expensive, and its a bit tricky to learn.
I've had a trial with airbruch makeup and will be using it on the wedding day. It's super light and is often silicone based so it sopeads and covers well, and doesn't cake. I have a few photos from the trial i could send you, too, if you want.
I am booking my makeup artist for my Oct wedding today. She totally recommends airbrushing over 'regular' makeup for weddings. I have never worn it before but I am so excited for my trial.
I had a trial before the wedding day, but my experience wasn't great. The first thing FI said when he saw me was, "wow, that's a lot of makeup..." I think the problem was that the artist, in an attempt to give me 'healthy' looking tanned skin, used the wrong color despite my objections. I like my white skin, thank you very much! I ended up going with a regular artist who did a great job (tho by the end of the day, my makeup was looking tired, which I gather does not happen with airbrush).
From what i've heard from most people, it's great. Just be sure to do a trial!
I wish I had the same experience as everyone else with airbrush. My MUA did airbrush for my trial and it was so cakey. It was awful! I was very unhappy with my makeup overall for the trail and had changes for the wedding but she didn't do a good job. Not the colors I wanted at all. *sigh*
I think you can get equal results from airbrush and regular foundation. It all depends on the skill level of your MUA. I had airbrush for my e-photos, which looked great. However, my sensitive skin reacted badly to the make-up, so we obviously did not use it again. We ended up using a long wear foundation from Smashbox on my wedding day (and day-after photo shoot pictured below), and it looked just as good as my airbrush results with the added bonus of no bad skin reactions. :) (please ignore the fact that the foundations are too dark in both shots. No one seems to make a color light enough for my paleness. So we worked with the lightest shades available and called it a day. C'est la vie)

Smashbox 16 hour

I agree with @KLloyd1. My airbrush makeup was downright nasty. It comes off really easily, so if you touch your face you will have a smudge. My face is oily, and the airbrushing didn't cover it up, it ended up smearing when my face got oily again. I had airbrushing for my trial, but used matte for my wedding day. It was SOO much better! It never looked cakey, covered just as well as the airbrushing, and stayed put all day.
@october5bride: I'll most likely get airbrush for both engagement and wedding. I like the idea of it being long lasting.
wow, thanks for all your comments guys..
i think im leaning towards airbrush, i just have to find someone in my area to do it..
@october5bride: It totally depends on the airbrush makeup used and the artist. No two artists, applications and brands are alike.
I have had two airbrush applications with two different artists (I have oily skin). The first used an off brand makeup and it looked awful and didn't even last half the day. The second artist used MAC airbrush makeup and it looked amazing (I booked her of course) and it lasted well into that night without a flaw.
Just a side note, if you are an emotional bee/cries easily I would NOT recommend airbrush. It is a lot more difficult (near impossible) to touch up airbrush makeup once your artist has left than it is regular foundation. I'm not typically a crier so it isn't a concern for me, just putting it out there. :)
I had mine airbrushed for my wedding day and I loved it. It was flawless, with more coverage but it didn't seem heavy at all. Plus, it lasted so much longer than regular makeup!
I had airbrush for my trial and for the day. The trial was awesome. I went for coffee with a friend in Septmeber in Florida, and we sat outside after I had the trial. My makeup was flawless the whole day/night (even through the crazy sweating)!
But. my makeup person cancelled the day of my wedding and sent someone else... when she did it, it really wasn't all that impressive. It was fine, but...
Definitely have a trial.
I'm a makeup artist... and I use airbrush on my brides. I use a brand called OCC and Kett Hydro and the once they dry/set, makeup doesn't move. It really does last longer than regular foundation. I definitely recommend a trial... that way all the details are nailed down before the wedding day. That alleves so much stress, in my opinion! Here's a little FAQ that I wrote on airbrushing:
