Airbrush Makeup FAQ

Q. How is airbrush different from regular foundation?

A: Airbrush makeup is different in two distinct ways.  1. the way it is applied - gives customizable coverage and lays on top of the skin feeling extremely light and almost weightless.  2.  the makeup itself is formulated much different from traditional makeup. The way it is formulated gives it a much longer life on you face then traditional makeup. 

 Q: Why is airbrush makeup good for a wedding day?

A:  Airbrush makeup has a much longer wear life then traditional makeup.  Your wedding day begins at the process of getting ready, which may be early in the morning, and your wedding day may not end till late in the evening.  The airbrush foundation has minimal fatigue compared with traditional foundation that seems to be wearing off half way through your day.  Airbrush foundation is water resistant and smug proof.  Airbrush makeup is not “magic”, you will still need to blot if you are sweating heavily and touch up with powder if you have oily skin, but it will give you that wonderful coverage needed for such an important day.

Q: My MUA doesn't offer airbrush makeup.  Can I still get a great long lasting look without it?

A:  Yes, while traditional foundation is generally not as long lasting as airbrush foundation, Pro MUA's know the techniques of applying makeup in a way that will give you longevity.  Some MUA's prefer traditional foundation and know how to make it last. Products have evolved a lot over the years and foundations seem to be getting better and better.

Q: Will airbrush foundation cover up tan lines or acne?

A: Yes, airbrush makeup can cover up most tan lines. Depending on the area of your body they are on will determine if that is the best option for you.  If the tan lines are in an area that your dress will be rubbing on all day long, using airbrush makeup or any makeup for that matter, is not a good idea.  And Yes, It can also cover up most acne (discoloration).  It will not however, get rid of any bumps or scars, but it will get rid of the redness and discoloration.  Your MUA can tell you if airbrush makeup is best for your tan lines or acne.  This is usually done at the Makeup Trial or in person Consultation.  

Things to know about Airbrush makeup:

There is many different kinds and brands of airbrush makeup.  One might be better for someone then another.  It can be applied to be totally sheer or applied to be full coverage.  It all depends on your skin and desired look.  Some foundations are formulated to go on matte and others to go one sheer or even dewy.  A pro MUA will know based on the trail or consultation what types of airbrush makeup to use on you.
