So I did a trial today with an airbrush make artist.  I really liked her, she knows her stuff, her prices are great, but I cannot decide which eye shadow  colors I should use for the wedding.  Pick which you like better.

On my right eye (left when looking) is a the more natural look. She used a cream colored base and slowly blended more colors until the top of my lid/crease.  The color is a mauve not a brown..it had purple undertones, although she used a light brown color in there too (using brown liner instead of black).  For me I love the colors, except my BM are having a few purples in their eye shadow makeup (since their dresses are lavander and MOH grape), and the M.O.A. just to show me put the exact colors the BMs are wearing on, and stood next to me and my mauve looked more purple than it does alone, and it was kind of dull versus the actual purples the BM are using.  But I do love the mauve color. (see 2 pics below)

On my left eye (right side), is a more dramatic look and is the cream colored base again, same style as the other eye, but the dark color is pewter, with black eye liner.  Now this matches my dress, as its white diamond with pewter embellishments.  I was told that you can allowed your FI to see your makeup before the wedding day so i did, and he said that the pewter was way to dark (as was the more natural color look I showed him pictures of) I explained that it had to be slighly more dramatic to be seen in pictures, but he doesn't understand.  I know he isn't use to me in makeup like that, but do you guys think the pewter is too dark? I already told the girl I would like to soften it up and she said it would not be a problem, and would still look really pretty.. just not as dramatic. (see pic below for pewter).

Airbrush trial today: which eye-shadow color theme? : wedding beauty beehive Pewter Eye Shadow

Wut what do you think? (btw I am pale here but im naturally pretty dark... so for wedding I'll have an actual tan).

Oh and the picture where u can see both eyes i would feedback on ho

w she did airbrush wise on my actual face. (the close up of the eyes shut, she hadnt really started to do any of the face airbrush makeup yet, I had NOTHING on actually besides the eye makeup she did).I have had 1 other trial and didn't like, my friend got married and i watched her get airbrush and didn't like it or how the girls attitude was, and would like peoples opinion of how u think it looks.  She had not done lips, lashes, or a bronzed look to it yet... this was mainly for me to see the eye shadow on camera, and the foundation/flaw-less look. (see below pic. my eye are still 2 diff colors natural/pewter haha).

Airbrush trial today: which eye-shadow color theme? : wedding beauty beehive Airbrush Face 2 Diff Color Eye Makeup

I really cant decide between the natural vs. the softened pewter look...my only cons are the natural looks weird with the bridal party so the pics could make them stand out more, and my FI wasn't fond of pewter but think he will like it if its softened like I plan on doing.....

Personally, I think the colors are wrong for you. It's all very frosty, eyes and lips, and with your tan it looks like you have a ton of makeup on. With your blue eyes, using actual earth tones (browns, bronze, copper, etc) would really make your eyes pop and would look better with your skin, IMO.

She did a good job with the skin part though, it looks really good.

For what its worth this is what I think:

    • The foundation DOES look "flawless" but in the pics looks a bit heavy. Airbrush should look light and like you have nothing on. I can definitely tell you have a lot of makeup on in the pics.
    • I much prefer the natural eye. I think the grey is very frosty Barbie as a Vegas Showgirl looking. This is coming from someone who wears a lot of makeup on a daily basis (I love makeup!) so its not just that I personally am not into smokey eye makeup. I just really don't like the pewter eye at all. I think it looks very hard and very exotic dancer-ish.
    • I would go with browns on your eyes and a darker lip color because the pink she used is too frosty. I think it looks dated.

    thanks for your opinion girls.

I like the pewter idea to go with the dress but I do want it to be a softer than that! I rarely wear makeup so i dont want people to be blown away in a bad way.

    @ zippylef  and texaslawgirl

My skin was a funky color that way, im actually REALLY olive complexted and when im pale my skin tone looks so wrong on me.. lol..i think the lighting during the picture really exaggerated that. What colors would you suggest for the eye shadow based on my coloring? keeping in mind my eyes change from gray-blue-green-purple, and my skin will be tanned so VERY olivey? The one with the mauve color was all naturals..and looked like a mauve color..so she used browns/coppers/creams/ etc.  I was the onethat likes the frosty color, but only because i think of frost as in white and for a wedding i should be wearing white eye shadow? I had no idea what i should do.. she actually advised me not to but i didn't know any other colors to use...i do NOT like dark colors..that pewter is way to dark for me, as it is..but im not crossing off pewter/grays....yet. HELP

And soooo i'm not sure wut a lot of makeup is with airbrush. but she just put on a primer, and did a mist of the airbrush for about.... 10 seconds in each area. Then she use air to dry it and let me see if I liked how she matched the color of my skin. That was it...in the pics of just the eyeshadow pics thats my regular skin with no makeup on it. I dont know if that shows how much makeup i have on or not.  I was wearing chapstick (after drinking a lil juice too that was red in color) she hadn't put anything on my lips in any of these pics yet.

texaslawgirl - i love the jessica simpon look.. but my complexion is more like.. jessica albas when im tan.. and i have long lashes she just didn't do anything to them yet in the pic where my eyes are open.

You are so pretty - and your skin looks great!

But I'm with the other gals on the shadow and lip color.  It's all a little to sparkly and pale for you, in my opinion.  I would go with more earth tones - taupe, beige, and I would do the liner (liquid) and mascara in brown.  And then your lips in a light burgundy.  But that's just me, maybe.  Or even a darker pink.

But I love the airbursh makeup. I've had it done a few times for shoots, and it always looks so good in person.  :-)

She did use earth tones on the "natural one" i do remember her using a color called spiral cork which was a brown tone... but whatever she mixed and blended it with made it turn more of that mauve color.  And I don't know what lip color you guys are seeing... i mean the ONLY color on there is from a red drink i had (barely) and oooooo the chapstick I used was my 9 year old cousins! haha oppps it could have had sparkles in it, but thats not what she used on my lips. What she used was more of a darker nude if thats even a color.. was just a shade darker than the natural color of my lips.

I really am clueless about this stuff.  My FI says that my face itself doesn't need any makeup because you care barely tell the difference between my skin in the pics with just the 1 eye showing vs. the one where she used the airbrush and did the foundation. But I saw a little bit of a difference. More even toned....

    any suggestions/pictures are very helpful!

You are extremely pretty but Im going to be honest. I actually think she used way too much white and its not highlighting how naturally pretty you are! You are stunning bride and I just think the eye make up is a little bit overplayed.  Sorry If she stopped where the eyehood is  and created a shadow then higher it would be alot better. I think you just need to maybe tone it down a tad.

I didnt vote on your poll, it was too complicated! :(

I had to vote neither. The eye shadows are too artificial looking. Your MA used too much white shadow on you since you have such tan beautiful skin. The colors are pretty by themselves by they don't match your skin tone at all. Especially on the first and second picture there is WAY too much shade difference between your skin and your eyelid.

I think it't the white base that is makeing everything so frosty. I think if you went for more of a beige or a sandy color, it would be good. If you could find a base color that is just 1 or 2 shades off of your skin tone, that would be perfect.

Sorry about the poll being confusing! I was asking two questions so I put answers to both questions...so you could pick two answers. OPPS.

You guys are being really helpful!! What color eye shadow did you guys wear for your weddding?  I was thinking it should be shades of white/light frost like colors...guess no rule.

Did u go with a natural, subtle look? Colors that complimented you but incorperated the colors in your wedding a tad bit? Something totally different than your wedding colors you just liked on you? I'm SO lost!  I read you are suppose to wear as much makeup as u usually would on at a special event, do not go overboard because it is your wedding day.. u should look more like yourself- but I barely wear makeup let alone eyeshadow and I do want to "clean up nicely" as some say on my wedding day.  Did anyone go all natural?

For those of you who are going off my skin tone...along with hair color...and eye color (which i must tell u changes by the hour.. sometimes they are GRAY- DARRKKK blue- light blue- green- teal like- and sometimes they are a violet/purple color, they are unpredictable)....

Here is a picture of me that shows my skin tone better, as I am SEMI-TAN (like i would be for the wedding).. i will not get tan tan....my hair might be a tad bit darker than in this picture but the sun controls how light it gets...also, as u can tell this is the normal amount of makeup i wear DAILY - tinted moisturizer, touch of bronzer (if needed.. dont think i used any in this pic), eye liner, and  i curl my lashes (no mascara), with maybe a lil lip tint.. but probably chapstick (i think im addicted lol)

Let me know color suggestions u have, after seeing the skin tone and what not....

Airbrush trial today: which eye-shadow color theme? : wedding beauty beehive WHEN SEMI TAN COLORING

Thank u for all your help!!! If you find pictures that u think are helpful, PLEASE post them, it'll help me a lot!

    I'm a bit confused by your poll, so I didn't vote :)

You are very pretty... my comments are a bit harsh but they have to do only with the makeup!

The eye makeup is way too heavy... or maybe you need a more neutral or toned down color.  It's just too frosty, 80s looking.

I don't like the foundation either.  You can tell you have a lot of makeup on your face, although it is "flawless".  In this case, I don't think the flawless is a good thing though... it looks a bit orange and too matte/flat.  I like to see more of a glow.

Yeah, I'm like jessica alba's color (but she's kind of light in that picture).  The pic below her, not sure who it is, the eyes are a bit dark? I love how the lashes are for kim kardashian! Yeah, perhaps a beige vs a frost white willl look better, and not such a hard/harsh/drastic color like the pewter.. i just want to make sure it is visable in pictures.

And wow the pic i posted i look REALLY yellow, but im not. Really weird. And no, I'm not wearing much makeup AT ALL, although it kind of looks like I am. Might have to post another, this looks so weird, not like how the picture appears on my computer at all (I hope i dont have this problem in my wedding pics!)

@ Angela83 yes i agree.. i like the glow/dewey look too versus the matte look!! She showed me that look after the pic was taken.  I guess my skin looks like I'm wearing makeup because honestly she just put the primer on, used the airbrush and misted for about 5-10 seconds, then used the airbrush and used air to help it dry...put some setting powder on it and that was it, thats the only makeup she put on me in that picture (as far as face goes). I just wanted to see if the color matched my skin tone & how it looked in a pic  She did blush and all that after.. so if that looks like a lot of makeup..... im scared! It was really such a MINIMUM amount she misted on my skin.

I like the purples/mauve colors but the only part I don't like it how it looks like it's highlighted up to your eyebrow (maybe she just used something with a lot of shine to it). Definitely think beige/browns/warm tones would look more natural but still very nice.

Your skin looks awesome though! I don't think it looks like you have too much foundation (some people might think that because it's just a pic - you'll look less "flat" or matte in real life).

I personally don't care for either eye makeup look; it's way too frosty. As other posters have suggested, something with an earth tone (not a white frost) would be much more flattering.

The foundation does look flawless, but it almost looks too good; like someone Photoshopped a picture.

Overall, I think you're too pretty to be wearing that much makeup; I don't think you need to be airbrushed!

i think that whatever makes YOU feel comfortable, you should do! you don't want to feel uncomfortable or less than confident on your wedding day.

i personally don't love either of them the way they are designed here; although i think if the colors did not extend up to your browbone and under your eyebrow, these colors would work very well. a little frosty shimmer goes a long way, and i think your makeup artist might have taken it a bit too far.

Ok, I think we can all agree- OUT WITH THE FROSTY COLORS IN WITH THE NATURALS LIKE BEIGES, Less SHIMMER in the colors, and that the darker color needs to be more in the crease.. is that correct?  I don't wear eye shadow so i do not know where the darkest color is suppose to go.. corner or crease? Always get them confused.

I'm an idiot when it comes to make-up so u r all so much help! I don't care if u are tell me it looks bad... i want HONESTY, espcially in an area where I am "uneducated"

Thanks to all who said i don't need to wear make up and that I am beautiful... what a nice thing to say, but I just want my skin tone to look more evened out.. because its not.

What i want and how I will feel comfortable is having the people I know/love/trust thinking the makeup ENHANCED my natural beauty and that its a classy, natural look, with the makeup done so its appropiate for a bride to wear, and represents what I want.  I want to enhance my eyes- make them look bigger to show off the pretty colors they change, exaggerate my long lashes (like i've commented on some pic posted I like), have my face look flawless but not be able to see any makeup and to have a GLOW that looks NATURAL!

@ nexus-6 - ya i love how airbrush makes skin look flawless.. and i am LUCKY to have very pretty skin of COURSE it has its flaws!!! And i guess if it looks photo shopped then its a compliment.... i can assure u the pics have only been cropped.. as thats ALL i know how to do when it comes to editting a picture...and not even on photoshop.. im worse with editing pics than i am with make up lol.

I think you look great in the pic of you tan. In my honest opinion I agree with a lot of the other comments that your eye makeup is way, way too dark and frosty at the same time. The lip color is too pink. At first I didn't even think you needed to be tan, but I see what you mean about your skin color in the pic where you are more tan. If you are going to keep your hair blonde I'd go with more earthy tones and maybe a sun kissed glow look of browns, coopers, and golds. Then go with maybe a richer color lip. I think the rule is if you go really dark and heavy on eye makeup then you should go with a more neutral lip, but if you go heavier on the lip (say a red or dark color) then go lighter on the eyes. I think a lighter lip would be better. Can you get another makeup trial closer to the wedding when you are tanner? Then she might be able to tell better what color is good for you. I think the airbrush did make your face look very clear and balanced which is beautiful. On your wedding you want to be very natural and don't pick something that could date you in a few years...same goes with your hair. By the way, just a thought, with your skin color and beautiful blue eyes, you'd look great as a brunette...just somehting to think about! Good luck!

Yeah im with @MacFaniam24: you would absolutely kick it with brunette hair.

Heres the look im going for with the eye shadow. Ignore that the foundation doesnt match. That was one of the fopars of my makeup trial. But other than that it was successful. I really think you should go darker rather than lighter... As ive said before.

I'm going to be honest and echo some of the PPs. It just looks really fake, and I don't like it at all.  The foundation looks GREAT, but the eyes and lips are WAY off. I'm blonde with blue eyes, and I stick to brown/beige eyeshadows, and I can pull of pink lips, but I usually go for a more natural color (more on the reddish side).

From a photographer's standpoint - RUN AWAY FROM SHIMMER!! It is going to look garish and waaaay overdone in your wedding photos. You can go for a beautiful smokey eye and still have a "pop" and some drama without looking like tinkerbell on film. Foundation is amazing though.

I'm going to to echo the sentiments to stay away from the frosted shadow and lip look.

I think she did a good job with the foundation.  BUT it looks to me like maybe she skipped or maybe just barely applied any blush, bronzer and highlighter.  Part of her job is to contour your face to bring out your best features.

@ MacFaniam24   i actually did go brunette once! One problem, my hair turns WHITE blond in the sun, and after only a few weeks it went from a nice chocolate brown, to a light brown I did not like. However, the chocolate brown color I loved.  See picture below taken less than a month apart (you can tell I was in the sun a lot in the pic where my hair is lighter by how tan i am) ---

Airbrush trial today: which eye-shadow color theme? : wedding beauty beehive The Pretty Chocolate Brown

(all natural in this pic btw, no makeup.. maybe i have on my addiction...chapstick but thats it... i had pulled an all nighter studying i remember this)

Airbrush trial today: which eye-shadow color theme? : wedding beauty beehive How Light It Changed From The Sun

the color brown it turned after less than 2-3 weeks from being in the sun....and this is the most makeup ive every worn! Get to see both extremes from these two pics!

I think I'll stick with my blond, since it seems apparent my hair will turn that color even if I dye my hair black and the sun hits it lol

@jojobananas : She had not done any blush/bronzer or contouring yet in the picture I posted.  Like i said she only did the foundation for me to see how the color matched my skin tone and to see it on camera/picture.  She did do all of that afterwards.

Ok for everyone who has been so helpful so far, I have been googling pictures of eyeshadows for blue/green/gray/violet eyes and did not find anything I loved.  Also, I searched through all of Jessica Alba's pictures and found nothing.   What i did find was some MAC looks, drawn out with the colors and everything used for each look (like they have for the employees and on their websites). I did read that for my eye color(s), the browns, coppers, beiges - the natural colors enhance your eye color - but also purples, pinks, grays, burgundy, plums, and peaches are good to use as a contracting color with the naturals....

I found several that I like, but it is VERY hard to tell the colors thru a drawing.  I am not familiar with MAC eyeshadow color/names, the brush names, etc. So if someone would be so kind to let me know if the colors that are used in the drawings would be good for me (not to shimmery and all that stuff I want to avoid). Some I know use a white frost, but I can always have her use a beige color instead.  Let me know.. i found quite a few, but they are all named uniquely.. so refer to them by the name that appears on the top.. please! THANK YOU ALL AGAIN.

I am only concerned about the eye makeup colors, and the lips too. I wish that looking at this on the mac website helped.. but not really!

Airbrush trial today: which eye-shadow color theme? : wedding beauty beehive Hard To Please

Are those colors dark? Its hard for me to tell if they are purple or if they are browns?

Airbrush trial today: which eye-shadow color theme? : wedding beauty beehive Bridal Look Light Pink Plum

And but of course the 1st color listed is a frosty pink, what I am trying to stay away from..but in small amounts like that could it look good?

Airbrush trial today: which eye-shadow color theme? : wedding beauty beehive Muse

A Muse: I think these colors are all good/natural (minus the frosty white). But not 100% sure if all the other colors are a satin/matte finish or if they have a frosty/shimmer to them?

Airbrush trial today: which eye-shadow color theme? : wedding beauty beehive Soar

Soar: might be a bit on the light side with the pinks?

There are those, someone please let me know about the colors and if its what I am looking for! They're are so many MAC colors I can barely tell the difference in them, so for those who know the colors, or have some of them.. PLEASE let me know! Or if you find a drawing like these... please post it!

    Thank u.

OHHH! Sorry for a 3rd post in a row, but I totally forgot about these pictures (of actual people I found that I liked).Let me know what u think.... one is of Adrianna Lima since her skin/eye color can be similar to mine... but it might be really tiny, error in D/Ling it...

    (that is tiny)

Airbrush trial today: which eye-shadow color theme? : wedding beauty beehive All Nars Look

Oh, this is the makeup brand Nars.. found it on some bridal makeup site! the blue eyes, light hair... and skin tone is not too fair for me to compare to.  Thought it used the natural colors/beige like you all had suggested.

And the last one u are probably going to want to smack me but for some reason I like it!! (minus the glitter)....even with the frosty color. Put it this way, I like the way it blends together... not the colors per say....

I REALLY love the NARS bridal look that's in your last post.  Those are exactly the colors that I was thinking would look great on you.

@Boston Bee: yayy so im going in the right direction!! What do you think about the picture drawn called "a muse'?  Do you know what those eye shadow colors look like in person?? From the picture of them, they seem to be in the right category... ?

I think the nars one is the way to go. The muse again has white frost. I have used fluidline and I know it's probably going to end up with what you had before. Stay away from white frost!! Your skin is way too tan for white products. The last picture is very nice too but again it does NOT match your skin tone.

although miley cyrus is wearing a bit too much, I think this would be the way to go with color selection. notice that she DOES have shimmery ice shadow on her brow bone but it's her skin color. it's not an artificial white or anything.

You are a STUNNING woman, but when I look at the makeup, my eyes go right to the eye shadow. It is just too, too much. I also think it would be difficult to photograph. Def. need to back off the eye shadow!

Your skin is flawless. Is it really like that, or is it the makeup? If it is really like that, I'd go with a more natural "base" makeup. If your skin is like mine, which is moody at times- maybe go a little heavier, but you look like you already look amazing, so why pile it on? :)
