I go to Nordstroms Spa.....I think it's about $60. I'm usually very happy with the results, I would do a few trial runs so you know what you like.....
Spacio in Lincoln Park/ Lakeview is my pick. I have been there multiple times and love their tanning color and services! Costs $65. Good luck.
dumb question, but do they do it on your face? and if so, does it make you break out?
I also heard great things about Spacio (on Halsted) and my hairstylist just told me a couple days that Benefit Make-up Store also has it and it's great. Air brush tanning is all over body, including face. I've never broken out, BUT when I went I was left with a musky smell for days. However, I'm pale and pasty, so the smell was worth it. I personally go the cheaper route a lot and just go to a tanning salon (Palm Beach or Ultimate Exposure) where it's $30 as opposed to the other ones that are around $80.
Benefit Cosmetics on Armitage will do a FABULOUS job! I tried both Spacio and Benefit and liked benefit more...it looked more natural and lasted longer. I think the cost was around $40, so it was cheaper than Spacio as well. Check out the reviews on Yelp, they will help a lot.
I took advantage of a Groupon (3 airbrush tans for $55) and had mine done at Brilli Salon in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago. Their normal rates are $55 for one session but if you buy a package you can get a volume discount.
My airbrush tan was well done and I was really happy with the way I looked on my wedding day. They did spray me on my face but asked me to hold my breath as they did a passover with the spray three times. I did not break out, but there is an odor to the spray. They have some product that can help neutralize the smell. Hope this helps!
HANDS DOWN the best is Lexie with Tan Envy. She does in home sessions of airbrush tanning that is totally natural. I had her do my spray tan for my November wedding and it looked flawless. I did a review on yelp.com (under Tan Envy) and it has all her info. Her prices are very affordable and comparable (if not less expensive) to all the high end spas in the city.
I have been a faux tanning queen since my teens and have tried every sunless and spray tanning ever invented. This was by far my best and most convenient exprereince. Lexie is extremely pleseant and professional. For the record, I am blonde, blue eyes, freckley and fair. So I wanted a very light, natural look for my wedding.
I would be happy to share my wedding phots if you would like to PM me!
Ive done airbrush tanning several times before, but am a little concerned about for the wedding day. For girls who did it for their wedding, Did it rub off on your dress? Im scared about this happening.
@July112010 I had my airbrush tanning done a few days before my wedding. I only showered prior to my rehersal dinner on Friday night and a quick spritz the morning before the wedding. It did not rub off on my dress at all. Lexie recommends that you spray a few days a head of time and wait as long as possible before you shower.
Ill have to try it out. I know ive gotten the tan before on white shirts. Im so nervous about ruining an expensive dress!
I've also been to Nordstrom spa... about $60. Nicole did mine (Oak Brook), she was fabulous :) After the first day, the tan did not wear off on any clothes. Be sure not to shower for 12 hours after getting it.
Seriously, Bella Bronze Tan is the place to go! My 2 friends who got married in spring turn me on to them. I love this place! I have really fair skin (translucent almost LOL) and my skin is super sensitive. I am a regular spray tanner so I have been through a lot of spray tanning salons here in Chicago. What I noticed after getting a spray tan in most of the other places is that I would always break out, fade uneven and be super dry. I think it has to do with the solutions they use. After talking to the tanning technicians over at Bella they told me that they use a anti-aging, anti-oxidant pure botanical spray tanning solution that allows your skin to breath while you have the solution on you for the next 7 days. After getting my test session done, OMG not only did I NOT break out but I got the most amazing color I have ever had. I came back 2 days before my wedding and I brought my bride maids with me and they loved their tans as well. A lot of people who spray tan are just concern with getting darker, but the true art of getting a spray tan is making sure it looks natural for your skin type. The people at Bella Bronze Tan understand this.
BTW I have also been to Spacio many times and they are really good too. These two are my top picks
