Hi, I have a contract with continental for my guests, and they didn’t say anything about being a business function.  I think I dealt with MeetingWorks.  Let me know if you need more information.

hi~!  i’m using continental~!

i just called them and they set up a "meeting works" contract for me.  i think this is the number you need to call – <font face=”Arial” size=”2″ color=”#000000″>800-322-8662</font>

they can fly from any airport to any of the three nyc area airports with the discount code they gave me (2-15% off, additional 3% off if you book through continental.com)

they were really nice when i called and emailed over the contract for me to look over immediately and i just had to fax it back to them.

I love AA more than any other airline. I’ve consistently found that their customer service is superior, especially compared to United or Delta. Of course, I’ve had a frequent flyer number for a couple of decades now, so that might be my own personal bias.

I’m afraid you’re going to find that airline customer service just kind of sucks across the board. Flight delays are increasing, fares are increasing, overbooking is increasing…flying is just no fun.

Great question about the group discounts. I had never heard of this before!

Hi!  I think this is a great program, and I appreciate you sharing it!  I do have a question, though.  How does it work exactly?  As in, how does the airline know that 10 or more people will book through them?  Is the discount retroactive?

at least for continental, i asked them the same question (how do they know 10+ people will book)..and they do know.  but if you fall short, there’s no penalty persay..but they might not let you do another meetingworks contract again (this is what the lady told me over the phone).  i forget the exact number (it’s not a small number), but if enough people book through your contract, you actually get extra mileage/points or something added to your own mileage plus program.

Hey ladies, I actually wrote a post on my  blog a while ago about the airline discounts available out there for weddings.  Let me see if I can get Mrs. Bee to put it up on weddingbee.  Personally, I’ve had great experiences with AA.  Have you thought about maybe going with a travel agent?  For me, it was too much to handle on top of wedding planning and I’m letting my travel agent deal with it.  Especially since I’m planning a destination wedding, she is seriously a lifesaver!

My parents used to fly AA often.  Their last flight was delayed by 4+ hours and they were about to miss their niece’s wedding.  We dont’ even know when they actually took off, because all passengers were allowed to leave and catch another flight.  Because my parents had checked their luggage, my mother asked a flight attendant how she can make sure her bags were safe.  The flight attendant started to make racists comments to my mother and cursed her out.  She then told my mom to take it up to the pilot because she didn’t know why they were delayed.  The attendant then ran off to the cockpit, luring my mom there, and when my mom politely asked to talk to the pilot, she was arrested and escorted off the flight.  It was a very traumatic episode for my poor mother and now both my parents are on the do not fly list for AA.  The flight attendant was never reprimanded.

omg~ Chris~ that’s horrible! Your poor mother.  Is AA really that bad? Should I tell my guests to avoid them?  But I guess no airline is perfect right?

I believe it’s probably an isolated incident, but the manner inwhich AA took care of the matter (treating my parents like they were criminals) was very hurtful and unnecessary.  I personally never flew AA, so I have no personal experiences.  I do always hear great things about continental and delta is okay – but our last couple flights were delayed.  United is decent too.

Flying in general these days is hit or miss.  Good luck with meeting works!

I have the same issue – most of our guests will be travelling from California to Canada. And, I was thinking of trying to do the same thing with rental cars, getting a discount code for a rental car company (once they’ve arrived) too. Anyone heard of that? Here is an article on about.com that looks helpful regarding airfare: http://honeymoons.about.com/cs/airlineinfo/a/discountairfare.htm&nbsp;

Oooh, I’m glad this post spurred me to action – Westjet (a Canadian airline that flies to LA, Palm Springs, Las Vegas, and Phoenix) also has a wedding group discount. Limited cities, but it could be really handy if it pertains to you:

Ha, I just got that feeling, you know, the rush you get when you find out something really cool and make progress in your wedding planning…!

I had no idea this program was even available for any airline! I thought it was just hotels. Thanks, guys! You guys rock.

By the way, does anyone know whether this can be applied to Star Alliance companies (Air Canada, United for example…)? Thanks!
