I tried...one of the airlines I called said the group has to be flying on the same exact flights for the discount to apply and since we were doing it over the phone they were going to charge me the surcharge and the person I spoke to said I was better off booking it online myself.
I also did a post a while back that might be helpful:

Good luck!
i called american airlines and frontier airlines (a lot of our out of town guests will be coming from Denver) and they are giving us 5% and 10% discounts. they sent us a code to enter. the guests don't need to be on the same flight. and there's also no penalty if you don't meet their group number requirements.
then they each have agreements with different car rental companies that offer discounts, and they gave us codes for that too.
Vee- thanks for the tip on Frontier. I set up a discount with Westjet (Canadian company that flies to select US cities) but several people will be coming from Chicago so Frontier will be helpful. I just waited on hold with them but she just directed me to their website, anyway, so save yourself the time and go directly there:
enmoore66, yeah, it's a PAIN to be on hold for a long time with some of the companies, but just think about how nice it is for your guests :)
There was also a board thread about this, maybe it'll help: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/airline-discounts-for-out-of-town-guest
Update. Alaska answered (they said they were understaffed today and that normally the wait isn't long) and the lady was so sweet and helpful. They gave me a special code so guests will receive 10% off if they book through Alaska/Horizon - which happens to be the only carrier that flies into the Sonoma County airport. I'm still working on Alamo :)
Thanks Hive.

I am doing a destination wedding (Sonoma, California) and I want to get a "group rate" for car rentals and airfare on Alaska. I've seen these on some websites (ask for Name/Name wedding and get 15% off at Alamo, for example). I've been listening to hold music for 30 minutes with Alaska Air and my neck hurts. Have any of you done this before and know of an easier way to do this?
