We were really excited to see it, and DVR'd it. We are going to watch it tonight!
I really enjoyed it. Well... the half I saw. Then DH came home with a friend who's not the sharpest crayon in the box and he couldn't figure out the story line after I told him 3 times, so I gave up and hid in the kitchen... I'm going to re-watch it with DH tonight or tomorrow because I think he'd really enjoy it too. I thought the concept was really intriguing though and it lived up to the hype for me!
It's not on here in the UK yet. I know we'll be getting it sometime this year though. I cannot wait to watch it.
@KatNYC2011: you should be able to watch it online, I watch alot of shows on ABC, NBC, Fox, and CBSs sites.
We watched it last night too and really liked it. I don't want to say too much and spoil things for those who haven't watched, but I like that it's more than just another crime drama. It's got a whole mysterious element to it too. Also, I loved all the actors! My husband was excited about Sam Neill and I was so excited to see Hurley from Lost!
I plan to watch it online. Very rarely do I ever watch live tv anymore.
@tksjewelry: Those are sadly all blocked over here in the UK. The websites know what region you are accessing the sites from and block international users due to copyright issues.
I loved it. I'm just a little hesitant though, about the mysteriousness of it all, because I got burned by LOST, not having all of the bizarre questions answered. I'm hooked, though.
i don't know. i watched it and while it does have potential, i'm skeptical. it seems very similar to fringe and i fell off of that bandwagon halfway through season 2.
I wasn't super impressed, but I'll watch a few more episodes before I decide if I like it or not.
@twodoghouse: I tried to be very careful typing the thread to not put in any spoilers for Bees who may not have watched yet!
@Mrs.KMM: Thanks for not giving too much away! You said enough to make me REALLLY REALLY excited to watch it! :)
I watched it!! A friend of mine from elementary school was working on that show in post production, so I really wanted to support him in watching it. It's probably not a show I would normally watch, but I actually really enjoyed it!! It's filmed mostly in Vancouver, BC (where I grew up) and I was just at Alcatraz a couple weeks ago so it was neat to kind of tie it all together!
I watched it too! Despite some of the cheesy scenes, I am definitely drawn in and can't wait to learn more about the characters and the mystery!! Also, did anyone else notice that the actress from Bend it like Beckham is in it!? I was trying to place her the whole time...
I am not quite decided that I love it, but I am going to keep watching...
My DH and I liked it, but not the lead actress. But it definitely is interesting and I'm curious to see what happens. I love "Hurley"!!
This is my first J.J. Abrams show so a lot of the similarities to Fringe and Lost are, well, lost on me, but I'm kind of undecided on this. I practically lived at Alcatraz (been on the tour several times and am a bit of a history buff) so I'm very picky about its representation and I noticed a lot of admittedly, minor inconsistencies. I'm horrible when it comes to that but if you want me to believe something as massive as hundreds of prisoners vanishing into thin air, then you need to make sure you have all your smaller details down pact.
That said, I am willing to give it a few more viewings before deciding. I'm especially intrigued with that last twist at the end of the second hour.
@Classique: I did! I had to google the cast list to make sure it was her. Only problem was once I figured out it was her, I started quoting "Bend it like Beckham."
@tea: I can get that way with uber-science-y shows so I definitely understand you there. Out of curiosity, what sort of inconsistancies did you see?
@Mrs.KMM: here are the ones I noticed:
1) D-block, where solitary confinement is and the little girl found Slyvane at, is actually open to the public during tours
2) there typically aren't ranger-led cellhouse tours on a regular basis. There might be on special occasions but they do have ranger-led tours around the island. There are rangers and Parks Dept staff/volunteers posted within the cellhouse to answer questions
3) they don't check for tickets to leave the island, only to get on the boat at the Pier
4) the "family barracks" that Hurley and Madsen went is actually on the main dock right as you get off the boat. They probably could have been in what was the "bachelors barracks" - most of the residences are near the dock/landing area
I'm trying really hard to suppress the urge to say, "That's not right!" and hopefully I can for the sake of an interesting show!
@Mrs.KMM: oh, and while I'm on track to be "That annoying girl who points all the inconsistencies out," I remembered a few more:
1) all inmates were clean-shaven and had their shirts buttoned except for the very top button, so Slyvane's sexy 5 o'clock shadow was a no-no
2) Prison guards wore red ties
3) inmates were not allowed to have picture frames or boxes of any kind in their cells
4) the ferries aren't just sitting there at the dock. They're scheduled for every half hour or so, so Jack must have gotten lucky to have walked out and find a ferry just sitting there ready to be boarded
5) the prison numbers actually stopped at 1576 but I let that one pass since it's not like they'd want to use real people in this show :)
6) if Hurley and Madsen were on the first ferry out to Alcatraz, then there shouldn't be anyone walking down the island back towards the dock
Okay, I think I'm done being "that girl" for now. :)
@tea: "6) if Hurley and Madsen were on the first ferry out to Alcatraz, then there shouldn't be anyone walking down the island back towards the dock"
I did notice that one! :)

Did anyone else watch the premiere of Alcatraz last night on Fox? What did you think?
I'd been seeing the previews for this for a while and was really looking forward to the premiere (like I need another show to get hooked on!) and I have to say that I'm already drawn in.
I thought they packed a lot of storyline into the 2 hour episode which included multiple twists as well. I'm really intrigued by the concept and think the show still leaves lots of questions unanswered as to what is really going on. It seems like it will be one of those shows where everytime you learn the answers to one question, it sparks 3 more different questions!
So anyone else watch? What are your thoughts?
