Below is the list from my caterer.  He’s done other weddings and events that I’ve been to (he’s family) and it seemed like the right amount.  No one ever ran out or had too much left over.  Of course it will always depend on how much your family/friends drink.

I would love to see the answers to this too! We are providing our booze (wine, beer, champagne and one or two signature drink options with liquor in them).

I had a wedding for 100 people and a bar for 5 hours, and the bartender suggested 6 cases of beer, 7 bottles of wine (4 white, 3 red [1.75L]) and 6 1.75 liters of tequila (we just did: beer, wine and a variety of flavored margaritas). However, if you do a full bar, its just 6 bottles, each of a different kind of alcohol. I ended up buying: 8 30 packs of beer, 7 bottles of tequila and 7 bottles of wine. We ended up leaving about a half hour before the bar was supposed to close, so that cut our alcohol consumtpion by about a half hour since everyone left right after we did but we had ended up using: 4 1/2 bottles of tequila, 4 30 packs of beer and 2 bottles of white and 1 bottle of red. We were lucky, Sams Club let us return the unused alcohol so it was no big deal that we had left overs ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, and I should add: the bar was busy all night, so it defiantely wasnt because we didn’t have a lot of heavy drinkers because we definately had people drinking throughout the night. The bartender suggestions are for 5 drinks per person throughout the night ๐Ÿ™‚

@College: and @vabride2011: do you guys not have been wine drinkers? For 200 guests we are planning on purchasing 150 bottles of regular sized wine (and knowing that is like too much but we can return)

@AbbieMason: no, we did not have a lot of wine drinkers; although suprisingly more people drank wine than I expected. But the bottles we bought were the bigger ones too. 150 bottles seems like a lot even more big wine drinkers; but since you can always return thats better than stressing out about running out of wine. Just make sure you buy it close enough to the wedding that you are within the return window ๐Ÿ™‚

I have some questions about how to set up the DIY bar. How much ice do you need? Where did you store the ice? My rental company offers 150 qt coolers, but I can’t figure out how much they hold when it’s just ice! Also, how many cups/glasses did you use?

Thanks!
