@MrsNewBride427:  I know that at least one to two cups of coffee a day, isnt so bad.  At least that’s what my RE MD told me last week.  As far as drinking, well, I know many bees drink till its pink.  I have had maybe a small glass of wine or something else.  I am not a big drinker.  Its really what you feel comfortable doing.  I dont beleive its harmful, but again if you feel like it is, then dont do it.  GL and have fun!

@MrsNewBride427:  a lot of people say drink til it’s pink (meaning a positive test)… I personally don’t like to drink if I think I could be pregnant (but probably will this cycle), and when we started TTC I switched to only drinking 12oz (or less) of coffee a day, I also bought decaf to switch to 1/2 caff after O.  As for alcohol, I think as long as you aren’t getting super wasted it’s fine to drink if you don’t know yet… Just don’t get crazy.

A moderate amount of caffeine is fine right now, even throughout pregnancy actually.  As for alcohol, I would say it’s fine until implantation has occurred, so you should be fine over the weekend. I would say just keeping life your life as normal until you get a positive (assuming your “normal” is reasonable, which it sounds like it is).

It’s all about what you’re comfortable with.

In reality, most women don’t even realize they could be pregnant until they’ve at least missed their period, and some for weeks afterwards. Heck, my parent’s generation wouldn’t even take a pregnancy test until they missed 2 periods, so they were 8+ weeks pregnant before they had a clue. These women usually continue on with their usual routine of eating and drinking whatever their heart desires, and go on to have healthy babies.

If you are one of those people who would feel guilty indulging, then don’t, or cut it down to a level you’re comfortable with.

As for me, I literally ate and drank every single thing you’re not supposed to during my 2 week wait. Sushi, margaritas, lattes, cured meat, soft cheese, lots of wine, prescription meds…etc, and I’m 23 weeks along with a very healthy and active baby.

Wow…you and I sound incredibly similar. We’re both 2DPO, 2nd cycle trying, drink coffee in the morning, and have a social situation coming up that involves alcohol. You asked the question that has been lurking in the back of my mind! As I sit, drinking my coffee now, I worry that I’m somehow making myself become unpregnant- strange, I know- even though what everyone has said about drinking until it’s pink and the olden times is true. Side note, if you’re 2DPO, when is your period due? I wonder if our cycle is the same. I’m due the 23rd or 24th of this month (according to fertility friend, and they’reusually spot on).

@MrsNewBride427:  Yeah, I didn’t buy anymore coffee creamer at the grocery store, lol. That will force me not to drink coffee. I’m reaaalllly hoping for a BFP this month. I was so surprised when I didn’t get one last month, our first month trying. We BD every day for heaven’s sake! this month I used OPKs and Preseed for good measure. Did you do anything differently?

Moderate amounts of caffine are fine, even during pregnancy, so I wouldn’t stress over your coffee.

And I’m a believer in “drink ’til its pink”.  As long as you aren’t going out getting wasted all weekend, it shouldn’t be a problem.

At 5 DPO, you wouldn’t be sharing a blood supply with the little bean yet, so it should be fine.  For what it’s worth, when I was in my TWW, I didn’t even feel like drinking.  We were at our lake house and usually that’s beer central, but after 1 or 2, I just wasn’t into it.  Maybe it’ll be the same for you!  Good luck!

The OMG!!!!J!J!J!J!!! NO COFFEEE!! thing is totally overblown. It is perfectly safe to have moderate amounts of caffeine daily even while pregnant. I mean seriously, if you are going to eliminate all caffeine, it also means you have to eliminate all chocolate… Try making a pregnant woman do that.

Sometimes I find it amazing that our parents managed to create us. It seems every time I look up “whats safe during pregnancy” I find a new thing that should be avoided.

I do avoid alcohol starting around 5dpo til 10-12ish depending on if I am sure AF is coming. (Which has always been the case so far). I’m not a huge drinker but it seems that my once a month urge for a glass of wine or cider always falls right before AF. I’m guessing its because I’m depressed over her impending arrival. But like others said, tons of people drink and don’t know they are pregnant and their babies all turn out fine.

@MrsNewBride427:  I drank a bunch of beers the weekend before I got my BFP. I wasn’t trying so was not even thinking I was pregnant. I’m 11w tomorrow and everything is fine!
