    Hello brides!!

are there any alfred angelo 1148 brides out there??!

I just picked up my dress recently and I couldn't be happier!!

I am wondering how are you guys accessorizing the dress? (If at all)  Since the dress is a little simpler than other gowns (but exceptionally ellegant)

    thanks!!

I'm wearing small drop earrings, a small diamond pendent necklace and an heirloom bracelet (all incredibly simplistic).   During the ceremony, I'm going to wear a drop veil, but then during the reception I'm taking off the veil and wearing a comb with rhinestones and feathers.

I wore a really simple crystal necklace from Nordstrom, with matching drop earrings and a bracelet.  My veil was elbow length, with a row of glass beading and a gold edging.  I wore gold shoes.  I just loved that dress too - and got so many compliments on how beautiful it was.  If you want to see a photo, PM me your email and I'll get you one.

Alfred Angelo 1148 bride here as well!  I just ordered it last week in diamond white.  I was thrilled to find something that was simple and non-strapless at such a low price point!  I bought a comb for my hair but I don't know what I am going to do for jewelry yet.  The bridal consultant suggested accenting the dress at the side of the waist with a brooch, which is an idea I am going to think about.

Just curious, how long did it take to come in?

    Annkerry!

Sorry it took so long for me to reply!

It took less than two months to come in! I ordered my dress in mid-July and it came in the first week in Sept. I also ordered my dress in diamond white, but it looks a tad yellowish--but thats ok--since it looks better than the WHITE white that it also comes in.

P.S. This is the diamond white.  It is really an ivory and was a BEAUTIFUL color as you can see in the picture.

    Salex, You look AMAZING!!!!

I will be wearing the dress in two week (or a little under)!  I am not sure what I will be wearing with it  jewelry wise.  Originally I had selected some marcasite/mother of pearl jewelery from Macy's.  However, for christmas my mother gave me the Swavorski (Flying) Necklace. My FI loved the necklace so I purchased the rest of the set.  I guess I will make a decision the day of.

I will be wearing a mantilla veil during the ceremony.  I can post pictures for you after the wedding day if you would like.

    Good Luck!

Ooh, a club. How did I miss this thread?

Salex, thanks for posting your lovely pic ... it's so nice to see the dress on a real bride! The funny thing about this dress is that the AA website picture didn't really grab me at all. I don't think it even looks like the same dress!

I'm waiting (rather impatiently) for my AA1148 to come in. Mine is white white ...works with my colouring better. I will be wearing a fingertip veil with a satin ribbon edge and crystals scattered over it.

My sister (MOH & my personal fashion advisor) still has to help me pick jewellery. :-)

So cool to see other fans of the AA 1148 dress!  I'm a "mature" bride and found this dress to be so elegant and sophisticated.  I'm getting married a week from tomorrow and after the relatives have all gone home, I'd like to pass it on to another bride (for a cost yet to be determined).  It's the diamond white in a Size 14 and is hemmed for my 5'5" height.  The hem can be taken out and adjusted.  Let me know if you, or someone you know, is interested in this great dress at a great price.

As for accessories, I've picked a vintage style pin for the side of the dress, as well as hair combs and retro style earrings.  The necklace is a diamond pendant from the '40's, loaned from a girlfriend.  My shoes even have a vintage look and the purse is authentic vintage, found on Etsy.

What I love about this dress is that it is so flattering, even on a fuller figure.

What an AMAZING gown! I've been trying it on at the bridal store and am absolutely in love with it.

Unfortunatly, I can't afford the price tag. :( If anyone is willing to sell a used gown any size from 4-8 I would be ecstatic!

It sure is nice to see so many other fans of this elegant and gorgeous gown!

I received sooo many compliments on my AA 1148 dress on my wedding day and felt absolutely glamorous in it.  The woman who did the alterations commented that this dress is extremely well made.  With the wedding over, I'm ready to pass the dress on to another bride.  The dress is a Size 14 and the color is Diamond White.  It is still in perfect condition.  Jewelry available too.  I can send photos of all.  Will be leaving on my honeymoon Sept. 5th but will get back to emails as soon as I can.

I'm wearing this too! I've ordered a chapel-length veil (which did seem kind of OTT for our outdoor wedding but photos like those of Mrs Cherry Pie convinced me it was worth it!) and will be wearing a pearl necklace and bracelet (borrowed from FMIL) and need to buy some small sparkly pearly earrings too. My shoes are pale blue. I had my first fitting the other day and just *love* this dress. Can't wait to wear it!

OMG! ME too. I LOVE this dress. I just had my third fitting (did NOT realize there would be so many!) earlier this week. Accessories have been difficult to figure out. Our colors are Clover and gold, so I'm wearing a clover sash and using a vintage brooch pinned on the side (as per Alfred Angelo suggestion...I see I'm not the only one!). I've got chandelier rhinestone earrings and a simple diamond pendant to wear. If you look at my profile pic, you can see all the accessories. What kind of Bustle are you all doing? I'm supposed to tell the Tailor at my next fitting.

Nifty, a whole thread for this awesome dress.  I was this dress online during my initial dress search/research and knew right away that this was the one.  Yesterday I tried one on at the big R.K. Bridal store in NYC and (even with it being a size or two small) it was awesome.  The store wants $500 for it, but it's a whole lot cheaper online.

Did anyone else buy it online?  Where would you recommend I order.  I will need a size 16W or 18W.

Also, I just assumed Diamond White meant the brighest white, it's very good to know that it's more ivory.  I'm incredibly pale, but pure white contrasts better with my skintone than ivorys.  Ivorys wash me out.

    Merey--

I got mine used on Ebay, and it worked out really well.  There is a size 18 on preownedweddingdresse.com right now for $300, http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/dresses/9896/Alfred-Angelo-1148-Size-14.html.  I know not everyone wants a used dress, but it might be a good choice.  Besides, no one else has to know!

    Good luck finding your dress!

I bought this dress as a TTD dress, but I liked it so much, I'm going to use it for the actual wedding.  It's a little big in the picture if you can't tell.

I am also an Alfred Angeo 1148 bride!

I have had my dress since July but I am a little frustrated with the way the back looks. Did anyone else have problem with it creasing in the back? I don't know if extra boning would help. Also, do you ladies have some pics of how you had your bustle made and more of just the dress in general on you?

    Thanks!!!!!

Just ordered this dres on Saturday. I love it. I am going to do my hair in curls with a birdcage veil and comb. I'm thinking a multi string pearl necklace and bracelet, and pearl studs. To keep true to the dress, I'm trying to keep everything Audrey Hepburn/Jackie O ish- simple elegant and sophisticated.

BTW got it on sale at the Grand Opening sale. like $75-100 off regular pricing.
Oh- I forgot, going to do a pearl and rhinestone brooch on the side and gold glitter Louboutins!

What a lovely dress!  This was the dress I thought was The One.  I searched high and low for it, but when I finally tried it on, I just didn't love it on me.  I was in tears and the consultant pulled a dress for me.  It was totally different, but ended up being The Dress.  I like to think that the AA #1148 led me to my real dress. ;)

Just finishing up deciding if this is the dress, has anyone had a zipper installed of the tie back?  If you have could you tell me the extent of it, looking to order on-line as i have found it alot cheaper and than have someone do the alteration for me.

Only 10 months later ... some pics of AA 1148 on the day! Loved this dress. Ordered a size 8, fit perfectly, only alteration needed was bustling, which my friend the seamstress did for about $25. I didn't even need to wear a bra (believe me, NOT an option for me normally).

Here's the front, the back (to show the bustle), and as a bonus, me doing the Angry Wedding Dress Model Hunchback Skinny Arm Pose.
