What's your preferred method of leg hair removal? How often do you do it?

I'm so tired of shaving and I'm tempted to either try waxing or just let it grow (fiance might not like that!).

I've done full leg waxing for a while and it's kind of a pain (since you have to grow it out enough for it to be waxed off)  Plus, I had issues with ingrown hairs (TMI, I know) so I stopped.

Have you thought about laser hair removal?  That way - it's gone for good!

I shave. I have never tried waxing but I would be a little afraid to because I worry about ingrown hairs. I get those bad enough from shaving, with waxing it could be worse! As for laser hair removal, a friend of mine got that done and had weird discoloration from it....it's also expensive and painful and you need multiple treatments. So shaving it will be for me.

I shave on most days when I am wearing a skirt or dress in the summer, and less frequently in the winter. If the only time my legs see the light of day is at home, then I don't worry nearly as much. Mostly it's about keeping myself presentable for the outside world!

Just started waxing...and I love it.  It does get annoying during the final days of waiting for it to grow out, but not shaving regularly makes it priceless for me.  I also started waxing underarm (for htat I will seriously never, ever go back to shaving).  FWIW, one of the reasons I tried waxing was htat I was getting terrible razor burn and ingrown hairs from shaving.  After the first wax, all of the irritation cleared up.  It was the razor that was doing it.

I shave, although sometimes it's time consuming and annoying.  I don't know if I could wait long enough between waxings, I shave everyday.  How long do you usually go between them, FizicsGirl?

I have a genetic condition where approx. half of my skin has no epidrmal derivatives - so sweat or oil glands or HAIR. I have never had hair on my legs or arms. Thank goodness I do have hair on my head!

I shave my legs, but not as frequently as my FI would want me to. He often gets into bed, rubs his leg against mine, and says something about my "gorilla" legs or something to that effect. :)

i shave but i'm part korean so my hair is fine and blonde. yes i know i'm lucky.

have you tried dipilatories or those mitts that get rid of the hair? personally i find them irritating and i'm allergic to the creams, but some people swear by it! I let it go during the winter, though...oops.

I don't shave or wax the hair on my legs, and I never have. I'm just too lazy to make the commitment, really. My mom warned me before I even hit my teens that if I started, I could never stop (hair tends to grow back darker and thicker afterwards, but not always), so I never started.

Sometimes it bugs me, but not too often. =)

I shave, I've waved before and (for me) it really wasn't worth it... I guess my hair just grows too quickly.

For the record, my mom shaved when she was a teen, and now she waxes.

She had laser hair removal done, too (but on her underarms). =) Supposedly it keeps the hair away longer than waxing, without causing ingrown hairs (like waxing does for some people).

    Laser hair removal!!!

I had it done on my legs, bikini, and underarms, and it is wonderful. Yes, it is not 100% and I do still have fine hairs in some places that I need to routinely pluck/shave/wax (depending on what I feel like or what I have time for).  However, I would say about 98% of the hair is GONE! And the coarseness of shaved hair is definitely gone. None of that anymore.

    @ eloping

Laser hair removal works best on dark, coarse hair. It didn't get rid of any of my fine hair. Luckily though, most of my hair was dark & coarse.

I shave every day....even when I lived alone. I'm too much of a wuss to wax plus the growing in part would freak me out. I would LOVE to get laser treatment but my leg hair has never caught up with the fact that the hair on my head over time went from being uber-blonde to medium brown and I've heard if you have light hair that laser treatment is a no.
A dark-haired friend of mine got laser treatment on her arms a couple of years ago and she loves the results.

I'm a shaver, and I am too lazy to shave my legs often.  I think shaving once a week is considered good for me.  I'm lucky that my leg hair is very fine and faint.

I'm good with shaving.  I've tried the creams, but they didn't work very well on my hair & I wasn't a fan of the scents.  Some of the cheap razors make shaving a nightmare, but I've found a good quality razor and shave gel just makes all the difference.

I used to be very lax about shaving my legs, until I broke my leg.  Ewwww... after 3 months in a cast, talk about nasty hair! I just started waxing over the winter.  I got it professionally done in December, March, and June.  I just did some touch-ups with a razor in between if it was really bugging me.

I shave my legs but I wax, er, other parts :) I prefer shaving only because having to grow in my leg hair in between waxes, especially over the summer, would just be too annoying for me to deal with. Also since I spend the $$$ on other waxes, I stick to shaving for the legs and underarms, although recent posts about waxing v. shaving underarms might be convincing me to switch over to waxing.

I shave. I've tried wax, nair, etc. and nothing worked as well. I also don't shave as often as FI would like! He is practically hairless, he has baby fine hair on his arms and legs, so his legs are often more smooth than mine, which is pretty annoying!

I'll probably stick with shaving although one of these days I may try waxing. I'm half Italian, so my hair is dark and course. I really should shave everyday but it's more like every  3 or 4 days. I'm so lazy when it comes to shaving.

Shaving is fast and easy, but tends to irritate my skin a lot, and the hair grows so fast that I am always stubbly. Ugh. This year I started out with a professional wax, and since then I've been using one of those epilators (Braun Silk-Epil). It takes a bit of getting used to, and constant exfoliation is a must to avoid ingrown hairs. (Dry skin brushing is the best!) But I like it better than waxing because it can grab quite short hairs, as opposed to waxing. But like waxing, the regrowth is nice and fine and not stubbly. Even in just the past couple of months, I've noticed the hair is finer and regrowth slower. I prefer waxing for the bikini area, though. The epilator is a bit too ouchy for that. Waxing is faster, so it hurts less. :-)

I'd love to get my legs lasered, but I can't afford it. I have had my underarms done and it's fabulous! Of course, I have very light skin and very dark hair, so it works really well for me.

I prefer using an epilady if I know that I will be away for awhile.  This has been great for camping or trips out of town.  Its usually too much work for everyday life though.  I have noticed that the hair does grow in thinner and there are some patches where it stopped completely.  I got used to the pricking pain side of it eventually and now can even do my underarms!

Shaving. Probably once a week (like for the weekends to wear dresses out and stuff) or if not, only when i have to so I dont get stubble mark. But in Miami - it seems like everyday I am wearing a dress in the summer b/c of the heat!

Shaving - but I like getting other areas threaded, doesnt cause the skin to burn/sag like waxing :)

I shave....occasionally...  Most of the time, and pretty much all winter I just let my legs go.  My hair is fairly fine and mostly blonde so it's not super obvious.  My main reasoning is that I hate the stubble!  Downy softness is MUCH better than sandpaper in my opinion!

Shaver here. Probably 3 times a week in the summer and 1 or 2 in the winter. This past winter I was away from my fiance for weeks at a time and well ... my legs got some extra warmth! haha.

I shave everyday, but I hate it!  My legs have many problems from shaving, like ingrown hairs and dry patches.  I have to exfoliate them every couple days which helps, but sometimes I don't have enough shower time to do this as often as I need.

I used to get my legs waxed and that was amazing!  There are some down sides to it, but it is really great!   You have to let your hair grow out for 3 weeks (this is the part that sucks, because you have hairy legs for a couple weeks).  Once you get your legs waxed you don't have to worry about shaving for at least 2-3 weeks.  Then you have to go through the process again.. letting it grow out and then getting it waxed again.   Over time though, your leg hair doesn't grow in as fast or as thick... so thats nice.

I get the silkiest, smoothest legs by giving them a good exfoliation, then waxing, then shaving (to get the little bits the wax can't 'grab'). My hair still ends up fine and sparse, but my legs are extra silky and I just maintain them when needed with a shave, between waxes (obviously I have to start letting it grow out again when I do that).

Mr doesn't care when they're a little prickly though! I think I appreciate the smoothness of my legs more than he does :P He just likes their shape & length ;)

I am blessed to have very thin and blonde hair on my legs, so shaving really works well for me, although I would LOVE to get laser hair removal if I ever save up the money!
