My fiance dresses in all black all the time. : ) I think it looks sexy. At our wedding, he will be wearing a blue tie, but honestly I wouldn’t mind if he was wearing a black one. He looks good in black, it’s what he wears (seriously, he wears all black EVERY. DAY.), and…yeah. I just wouldn’t want him wearing anything else! Plus, I see it as complementing my dress, since I’m planning on wearing white, and I think it’ll look really cool.

Maybe he can add a splash of color for the tie? My FI is wanting to wear all-black w/an eggplant (one of our colors!) tie.

what about all black but a white shirt? to match your dress?

my groomsmen wore black tuxes, vests and ties but had white shirts on – they looked really sharp 😉

black tux, black shirt, colored tie? I think it would look really snazzy. 🙂

Oh my god! My groom wants all black too! I thought he was the only one! I went with him when he picked out the tuxes. He thinks that all black for him will look very James Bond!!!

I know I’m replying on an older thread, but I was searching for other brides who have had grooms who wanted all black. I wrote a post today about this. My FH wants to be in all black and groomsmen in grey and black with purple accents. I want to appease him because this is the only thing he has asked for throughout our planning.  Does anyone have pictures of this if you went through with the all black idea?

Dark or colored shirts and suits or tuxes usually remind me of prom. I’d recommend a white shirt to men who want all black, just to lend some maturity and formality

@adalm03: Well let’s clear something up.  He won’t look like he is going to a funeral.  A Tuxedo is never appropriate to a funeral, and no one would ever wear one.  Second, no one would wear a black shirt, black tie, black suit, to a funeral.  That’s what you wear to a club.  Lastly, a proper Black Tie ensemble (i.e. Tuxedo) is black with a white shirt.  All the details are black.  Most stylish men wear charcoal suits to funerals, because most don’t own black suits, as, unless you just particularly like them, they are only particularly appropriate at a funeral.

Here are two things I suggest getting your FH to read – thoug I definitely suggest he read the entire site:

http://www.blacktieguide.com/Contemporary/Contemp_Alternatives.htm (scroll down, and there is a bit that specifically addresses the outfit your FH currently wants)

http://blog.blacktieguide.com/2013/09/24/2013-emmys-red-carpet/ – scroll down to the bottom of the post for two examples (both of which are widely panned)

@Kwhoa:  I’d reccomend all black with a white shirt to anyone, any time – any time after 6, that is.
