Tonight I wrote the only extant thank you note I had left – I had knocked out the rest a couple days ago. I’m reallly pleased with having kept up with this. They aren’t poetry, but they are, I hope, gracious. And they are DONE, which is the most important thing of all! In fact, I thought I sounded pretty stupid in some of them. “Thank you so much for the decorative tile painted with clowns. What a lovely surprise! We are so grateful that you thought of us at this important time in our lives. We just can’t wait to display the cute tile.”
Pretty sure that, all in all, I used the word “generous” a few thousand times, “lovely” wayyy too much, and “so” (as in “so generous” and “so lovely” and “so much”) enough times that I’m now super self-conscious when I catch myself saying it in conversation.
I wouldn’t mind if more gifts trickled in, don’t get me wrong!! But if they do, it’ll be a trickle, and easy to get the notes out right away.
SO glad to have these of my back!
