Hi ladies!! My fiance and I are trying to figure out where to go for our honeymoon but aren't having such good luck.  After searching high and low (literally) it hit me.  Why haven't I consulted the hive?!? DUH! So I'm hoping you guys may have some suggestions for us to check out.  Basically we're looking for something tropical (preferably not in the U.S. - Hawaii included), all inclusive, for one week at around $3,000.  Is that even doable or am I totally crazy?  Please help!! I'm dying here and need some helpful advice.  Thanks ya'll!! :)

We just booked a 7 night honeymoon to Playa del Carmen for right at $3,000 (includes airfare from Chicago) through Orbitz.  We're staying at Secrets Maroma Beach which is all-inclusive and looks amazing, and has great reviews on Trip Advisor. It's during hurricane season, but we're deciding to risk it.  We did book trip insurance for about $150.

Your wedding is in the off season for the Carribean so you should be able to get a REALLY nice stay for that.  We are staying in the Riviera Maya at the Grand Palladium for our wedding.  But really you can't go wrong with any of the resorts from Playa Del Carmen to Tulum.

cheapcaribbean.com - i read it somewhere on here earlier today and i just played around and for all inclusive to jamaica from toronto would be just around $3000, so it's definately possible.

I thought this map was helpful. We booked at Sunset At the Palms thru this site and were very happy with them. The ones with the red dots behind the name are the all inclusives on the beaches side of Jamaica.

    http://www.negrilonestop.com/beachresorts.shtml

Our resort was about $350/night for two people. That included ALL meals, drinks, tax and tips.

Definitely look into DR. There are lots of flights/AI deals and I think you could definitely get a package for around $3k. The Riu Resort in Punta Cana is a really good value.

I totally agree with katrinab - we booked  Exellence - Punta Cana, DR for $2300; 5 nights/6 days in April...all-inclusive! This place has awesome reviews (check out Tripadvisor to comapre).

Cheapcarribean is a great website. Also check out Jennifer at The Tropical Travelers

I know there's an all inclusive resort in Cancun that runs for around $2K for a week. And that's for the honeymoon suite.

My FH and I are actually looking into this one...

Look into Apple vacations! They are the cheapest we have found, and they all seem to be all inclusive

    Applevacations.com I think

Wow ladies!  Thanks for all the great suggestions.  Initially we were thinking Sandals Negril but after doing a little research we started hearing some not so great things about it.  I have recently looked into the DR and was pretty impressed with the Excellence Punta Cana.  I had never really thought of the DR as a possibility but I'm really starting to warm up to the idea.  It seems gorgeous there.  We've also looked into some the RIU resorts and all of them seemed to be super cheap...like $1600 - $2000 total for 7 nights for 2 people with roundtrip airfare.  But I'm a little wary about that because I'm not sure if they're cheap for a reason (ie. not so nice.)  Thanks again for all the advice!! Please keep it comin.  You guys are the greatest! :)

Might I suggest cheapcarribbean?  it's got great prices and places!

Also do check out where my sis and bil go every year on anniversary.  You probably could come in right around there but do check it out!  round hill resort, jamaica.

I can't say enough good things about it having heard my sis and bil gush over it for the last 3 years.  If we weren't in a recession and all my friends had more $$, we'd be getting married there!

We stayed at the Royal Catalonia in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic last year for $2400/week, flights included.  Our flights were expensive since we went over Easter, so the hotel was only $1400/week.  It was an adults only resort.  You get what you pay for, as the Dominican Republic wasn't fabulous and the non-adult only side was gross.  But we had fun and saved some money.

I can say that I absolutely have loved each time I've gone to Atlantis.  See if they have any sales there.  It's so fun!

Also, I love Puerto Rico.  it's so amazing and you don't need a passport!  Check it out and also the resort I stayed at, El Conquistador.  Beautiful views and where they shot the old school James Bond movie "Goldfinger".

We are going to Playa del Carmen and staying at the Valentin Maya ( http://www.valentinmaya.com ) for $2600 for 6 nights, which includes direct flights from Charlotte. I read a ton of reviews on TripAdvisor and the Valentin definitely won out. No buffets for dinner, with 7 a la carte restaurants, huge pool, nice rooms, and the best part- adults only! :] Good luck with your search!

We stayed at the Excellence Punta Cana and I highly recommend it!  We were there for 8 nights and though it was above $3k, thats because we flew from CA, and upgraded to the Excellence Club and a Swim-Up room.  If we hadnt dont that it wouldve been just around $3k.

Definitely check out cheapcarribean, thats actually what we booked our honeymoon through.  They offer the same deals the Excellence does as well - just make sure to specify you want the honeymoon package (its free with a certain amount of nights).

I used cheapCarribean.com.  I just booked my honeymoon in April to Secrets Resort in Silversands, which is in Cancun.  I'm going for 7 days and including airfare is costing us $2700. It's an adult only and all inclusive and relatively new too.  It opened in 2008.  I'm leaving on a Wednesday and coming back on a Wednesday.  Flights are a bit cheaper on Tuesday and Wednesdays.

i actually heard great things about the sandals resorts and thats where we are looking, at the negril or antigua. my girlfriend just got back from ochos rios in jamaica (sandals) and loved it so much that they are going back for their honeymoon and a future coupe vacay! i think its great, all your food (including fine dining), premium alcohol, and more than just watersports amenities are inlcuded for the price you pay upfront, no hidden costs. they have gorgeous rooms and are very couples oriented. check it out! i did want to go to dr, though, ive heard its grogeous!

Wow!! Once again, I failed to realize this post got so many more comments.  Sorry guys!!

@Miss Sayrah I just checked out the Valentin Imperial Maya and it looks gorgeous.  We can get it through Cheap Caribbean for $2200!!  (P.S. Thanks to everyone's suggestions about this site.  I finally learned how to navigate it and I'm hooked!) I'm gonna keep looking but the Valentin is definitely a contender.

My FI is really wanting to go to St. Lucia but I'm pretty sure that's out of our price range.  Right??  Thanks for all the great tips.  I'm off to google all of these resorts! :)

We're going here! One of the first decisions I made. We wanted something fancy and all-inclusive, the reviews at this place can't be beat "Excellence Playa De Mujeres" Adults Only Resort"

We are staying at the 5 star resort for 6 days with airfare for $2400!!

I found the review Pengy did about Excellence Playa Mujeres:

    http://www.weddingbee.com/2008/06/30/excellence-playa-mujeres/

and am now seriously considering this one.  Her review makes it sound so perfect for us.  Plus the reviews on Trip Advisor are amazing on the price from CheapCaribbean.com is right within our budget.  Maybe I should talk it over with the FI (haha) but we may have a winner!! :)

    Thanks again ladies!

Sandals has some options for your budget as well.  Not including airfare though.  We stayed at Sandals Regency in St. Lucia and I think they had suites for as low as 2200 for a week.  Also, look into sales for Sandals because they are constantly running 65% off sales on rooms.

We are staying at Couples Sans Souci in Ocho Rios Jamaica for 7 days and its costing us $2400 including airfare....its all inclusive and its gorgeous!! It comes with a whole bunch more activities than most of the all inclusives (dunns river falls trip!) and it looks amazing!! We booked it through cheapcaribbean.com. It should be about the same price as you because we will be leaving from Atlanta which isnt too far from Charlotte.

Look around for awesome deals- orbitz.com, cheapTickets.com, AppleVacations.com, cheapcaribbean.com, etc. If one or both of you are students, you can also check out statravel.com or any other student travel site. Also, we've been checking prices on Sam's Club Travel (since we're members there) and they're pretty good! We found round trip tickets to Hawaii with 5 days, 4 nights staying at high-end hotels for around $2,400. Their deals on the Caribbean seem really good too!
