I would check living social or groupon. They seem to have the best deals to me.

I think you will find a lot in Mexico in that price range. I’m going on a post grad vacation with SO to Catalonia Royal Tulum in Riviera Maya Mexico. It is a little over an hour away from cancun airport. We liked the seclusion & the long stretch of beach (with resorts competing for space some only have smaller beaches that are dominated by the resorts beach chairs). We also like that you don’t need reservations for the restaurants and that there isnt a limitation on how many times you can eat at a “specialty” restaurant (many have a rule of 3x/week, the rest of the days you must do buffet). It is also adults only and close to Tulum ruins, which was nice for us because we are definitely excited to see some Mayan ruins! It will cost $2600 for 8 nights and 2 round trip flights (not including airport transportation or excursions).

based on your wedding date I think anything in the Caribbean would be beautiful weather. I would suggest messing around on Travelocity, orbits, Expedia etc. and stick to searching in your price range. Then, pick some resorts that look appealing and figure out the ins and outs of the resort’s policy and see what the people who have stayed there are saying on trip advisor. It’s also cool to see trip advisor pictures compared to professional pictures meant to advertise the resort. Just have an idea of what you want to do and see (for us it was ruins, nice beach, and deep sea fishing), and what kind of atmosphere you want and it should be easy to compare this way and find the best fit.

We used cheapcarribean.com and went to Mexico for 5 days for about 2k.  Totally doable!

seconding cheapcarribbean.com although I haven’t gone on my honeymoon yet!  But there are a LOT of great vacation packages for under 2k which include airfare.  You can specify all-inclusive resorts!

@pink0815:  i’m not sure where you are flying out from but your best deal for a 7-10 night beach vacation would be dominican republic, jamaica, cuba or mexico.  i find that the other islands are a bit more expensive and not always all-inclusive.

i’ve used many travel sites to book vacations.  expedia, booking.com, bookit, selloffvacations, tripcentral, itravel2000, etc.

based on your wedding date, you could get a great deal on some wonderful resorts.  you may want to discuss with your fi what you want to do on your honeymoon.  culture, beach, nightlife, adventure, etc.  then you can narrow down your location and then pick a resort.

pm me if you have any questions.  i’ve travelled for 25 years all over the carribean and mexico.

We went to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for 8 nights in an upgraded room including flights from Los Angeles and hotel transportation, and travel insurance… for I think 3,400. Obviously you could do it cheaper if you don’t do the upgraded room or do it for less nights. Our hotel was Majestic Elegance and it was AMAZING!

Riviera Maya is a great place to look.  Valentin Imperial Maya has some awesome prices and I think we’re honeymooning there (but in upgraded rooms).  It’s worth checking out for sure!

We stayed at Couples Sans Souci in Jamaica in May for 8 days and flew out of Virginia and it came in under $3k.  I’d highly recommend the Couples brand of resorts.  Everything was perfect and they had all the same inclusions as a Sandals resort but about half the price.   We booked through the couples website.  They always have deals and discounts available.  The next time I get a vacation we are going back to check out another one of their resorts….  I loved every minute 🙂

@Monkey786:  I’m thinking about having my wedding there!

@ClassyKate:  I stayed there in 2010 and it was THE BEST VACATION EVER!!!

I was just going to suggest Cancun and Punta Cana, but it seems like the other brides beat me to it.  🙂
