My best friend went to Sandals in Antigua for her honeymoon. The pictures I’ve seen are beyond gorgeous. She said the food was great and she would love to go back.

I love the resorts “Secrets” or “Excellence”.  I’ve been to a few of these resorts in various tropical locales.  A-mazing food and service.  VERY romantic and serene!

I’ve been researching the caribbean for our belated honeymoon as well and we found a resort in the Dominican Republic that has really high reviews in the Dominican Republic on trip advisor.   It’s All-Inclusive, has good reviews, nice room, and is adult-only.  It’s a *little* pricy for your budget, but you may be able to swing the $3500 price if your flights are cheap and you stay in the lowest price room (which still looks very nice!).

It’s the Iberostar Grand Bavaro Hotel: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g147293-d1233228-Reviews-Iberostar_Grand_Bavaro_Hotel-Punta_Cana_La_Altagracia_Province_Dominican_Republic.html

I enjoyed my stay at Excellence riveria in Mexico. The service, food, drinks, and accommodations were great. I felt they were reasonably priced. The beach wasnt the best (there was seaweed) but I spent my time in the lazy river pool most days. Not sure if the seaweed is permanent, seasobal or a result of a storm. The staff was very friendly. I didn’t do anything off the resort but I remember thinking there was a lot to do if we chose to.  Oh and best if all it’s adult Ing. They have step in Mexico, one in DR and are building one in Jamaica

@gingerspice:   Dreams/ Secrets resorts are amazing. I’m planning on getting married at a Dreams resort.. google AM Resorts (the parent company) — they have great service (my friend had her wedding at Dreams Cancun) — you can’t go wrong with an AM Resort.

My husband and I just got back from or honeymoon and we chose Sandaks Grande Riveria in ocho rios Jamaica and i would highly recommend it! We were only a slight budget, i would have loved antigua or st lucia but jamaica was more affordable. The people in jamaica are wonderful, friendliest place that we have visited in the Caribbean. .

They have excellent food here, all sorts of cuisine to choose from which was a must have for my husband, it’s all inclusive and the drinks are excellent, top shelf liquor and they add plenty of it! golf is included at this resort which is aweome considering it’s unlimited and the course is pretty good (we didn’t golf but talked to many couples who did)

Sandals is adults only so no worries and it’s totally geared to romance and they really do a great job celebrating honeymooners. They even have a free honeymoon package (bottle champagne, chocolates and rose petal bath)

I highlyI recommend getting a room in a category that offers butler service. Since we saved a little on airfare by going to Jamaica we were able to splurge and get the butler service! They do everything for you and you get two butlers, one works 7a-3 other 3-10p. They give you a cell phone upon check in and you simply call them and they will book dinner reservations, book spa services, excursions, bring you food or drinks from any restaurant wherever you are, basically whatever you ask for! The great thing is they do lots of special, “little things ” for you, they set up (two different nights) where they lit a ton of candles in our room, chilled a bottle of champagne ( and couple bottles of Guinness my guys favorite) and drew us a bath complete with rose petals and a rose petal path leading to the tub. What a great surprise and totally romantic!

The spa here is excellent. The quality of massage you get here doesn’t compare to the best one I had in the US and I go to spa as often as possible ! I got us an 80 min couples massage on the beach as a wedding gift for us and it was amazing!! Definitely opt for the outside option and ask for sunset on the pier if you go here. Definitely negotiate with the spa staff (talk w them on the side, don’t call the spa) I also got myself a body scrub and wrap for the price of the scrub , they are very willing to work with you.

The beach isn’t that big which is only negative but what s there is beautiful. If its a huge issue, check out sandals negril (been there and its awesome just more laid back with a little older crowd)There are beach beds and cabannas whch are so romantic, plenty of beach just not a beach where you can take a long nighttime walk. They have 3 awesome pools with swim up bars and a awesome pier with a great bar and excellent seafood restaurant.

There are a ton if options for excursions in this area, I recommend doing the catamaran cruise to dunns river falls, so fun! Also the zip lining was fun, and people loved swimming with the dolphins (we didn’t do this cause I feel bad for the animals) good luck planning! Wherever you go, you will have a great time! Dont plan too many activities ahead of time, we had all these intentions of doing things but ended up wanting to relax and really live in the moment with each other.

I suggest the Majestic Elegance in the Dominican Republic. It’s all inclusive. We paid extra to stay in the adult area called the Elegance Club. our concierge Benny was amazing. They also offer some nice touches for newly weds. look it up on Trip Advisor. It’s amazing!

@gingerspice:  I can’t remember which excellence resort I stayed in. I think it was Riveria Maya. Message me if you have any questions. I’d highly recommend them.
