We went to Aventura Spa Palace in Riveria Maya Mexico. While I wasn't overly impressed with Mexico, the resort was gorgeous and very accomodating. We went for 7 days at the beginning of May and I think it was right around $5,000. We upgraded to the Conceirge level room. But, we saw the lower level and it didn't seem any different. Food, drinks, and even excursions were included.
We're having a destination wedding/honeymoon at The Royal in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Our full trip (9 nights, all-inclusive) is exactly $4,000. I think you'll find that Mexico is cheaper than a lot of locations.
@Candy_Nee:
Thank you for your replies. I neglected to mention we've been to Mexico a few times also, but given my budget I'll have to keep that as an option.
Where all have you been in the Caribbean? I've been to several islands down there and have found them all to be unique in culture and experience! Like the other bees said, Mexico is full of all-inclusives. Maybe try Belize, Costa Rica, places like that. The U.S. and territories don't have a lot of all-inclusives that I know of.
@magikmek: nice post! we are in the same boat.
Interested to see if any bees have good hawaii recommendations.....
We're getting married on the same day! We just booked our honeymoon last week. We're going to Couples Tower Isle in Jamaica (all-inclusive) for 6 nights for $3,000.
For affordable all inclusives, your best bet is Mayan Riviera Mexico or Punta Cana Dominican Republic for that kind of budget.
Try looking at: allinclusiveoutlet.com
That's who we'll be booking through!
I wanted all-inclusive and not in Mexico. After doing much research, I realized we can get the nicest resorts in Mexico for our price range. Have you looked into Secrets Maroma Beach?? It's in Mexico and made me change my mind about going there. Maroma Beach is one of the nicest beaches in the world as said by Travel Channel and Secrets Maroma Beach won an award for most romantic resort on TripAdvisor. Just an option! But I'd love to follow this as I'm interested in other places as well. :)
@magikmek: May I suggest this amazing all inclusive resort in Brazil, called Iberostar Praia do Forte or Iberostar Bahia (the Praia do Forte one is better)
i had some friends who went to St. Martins for a week all inclusive and i think it cost them $1600 each
Have you looked into RIU resorts? They have them all over the world?
Also, what about Belize or Guatemala? You can get some great all inclusive deals in central america.
We are going to Jamaica, through the Couples resorts (there are 5 total I think)...check them out www.couples.com
Thanks for all the replies. Some good info and a lot to check out.
Based on what I see, Hawaii doesn't appear to be in my price range nor do they offer many all-inclusive packages. If you know of any, I'm still open to suggestions.
I'd pretty much written off Mexico, but I honestly haven't heard of the beaches @chickeybarr mentioned so I will have to look into that.
Mexico, Brazil, smaller Central American countries and a few all inclusive sites...I'm going to do a little more research based on the info posted and update the post.
Thanks again.
@magikmek: Here are 2 RIU all inclusives in central America:
Guanacaste, Costa Rica: http://www.riu.com/en/Paises/costa-rica/guanacaste/index.jsp
Panama City, Panama: http://www.riu.com/en/Paises/panama/panama-city/index.jsp
I went to the one in the Bahamas with FI and it was fantastic.
My thoughts exactly!!! I would have never even considered Mexico if I hadn't come across that resort on these boards, and I am sooooo glad I booked there! I was so against it before. The reviews on tripadvisor are like perfect review after perfect review, and the photos look amazing. I think your money can go a lot further in these places than those other islands, and you want your honeymoon to feel like luxury.
Recently we just booked our honeymoon- what our travel agent told us was that ANY place that is owned or claimed by the USA will NOT have ANY all-inclusives! Which includes the US Virgin Islands! Hawaii is not only expensive travel wise- the flights seem very long and a friend recently returned and said food was near $1000 a day for 2 people!
@magikmek: I know you have said you have been to the Carribean but if you havent been to Jamaica we are going to a great place with GREAT inclusions for like $3900 for a week! Its call Couples Tower Isle (like a Sandles without the big markup for the Sandles name), its in Ocho Rios Jamaica & i'll list our inclusions! They seemed GREAT to us & we have triple checked that they for sure are all included! Here is the list:
A friend of mine actually had their destination wedding at Couples Tower Isle. It is real cool. My fiance and I both attended and had a great weekend there. At first I thought it was vironic that you mentioned that, but it kind of makes sense for nice places to brought up.
@magikmek: was it great? because I havent been many tropical places ever! Ive traveled around the US & went to Tijuana once... so Jamaica will be my big trip in my life so far! It just seems to nice & the inclusions seemed great!
@magikmek: Depending on how long you wanna stay I think you can totally do Hawaii for $4000-$5000. We are going to Oahu and plan to spend no more than $3000 (this doesn't include airfare though, FI parents are gifting us that part). There is a lot of good deals through Costco Travel. I saw 6 nights in Maui at the Royal Laihana (sp?) Resort, car rental included, $250 food credit, daily valet parking, free dinner luau, free dinner/cocktail cruise, daily cocktails, daily buffet breakfast in an ocean view room for $999 per person. Even with airfare and extra spending/food money I think that's an awesome deal! If you really wanna go to Hawaii I would definately check out the Costco Travel site. If you're not a member it's only $49 a year to join. Good luck!
Jamaica + a lot of friends + a whole lot of drinks = a whole lot of fun. lol. Food was good. Everything was included. The hotel was a little older, but it was still nice.
We are going to two all inclusives in Mexico (Cancun area)--Excellence Playa Mujeres and Iberostar Grand Hotel Playa Paraiso. We also looked into AI's in Punta Cana and Jamaica. I think you could probably stay at one of the better AI's in any of these places for your price range. I can't report on it since we haven't been yet, but I'm really looking forward to unlimited food and premium alcohol after months of dieting for the wedding!
You could try Secrets All Inclusive Resort. They a few in the Caribbean but also in Mexico.
http://www.secretsresorts.com/
I would also check www.allinclusiveoutlet.com, they have to some great deals, and I know you can book secrets through them at great rate.
Going to Punta Cana the week before for 6 nights. $2800....check out cheapcaribbean.com Lots of great deals
All Inclusive plus airfare at Majestic Elegance. This was priced for the Elegance Club (which was a little more expensive)
I'm going against the grain by saying consider Europe!
My FI and I spent 10 days in Paris & Rome for $5500. We tracked every penny we spent and Europe can be done for under $4,000 if you only visit one city. If you are younger I don't think jet lag will be a problem at all! We left Miami at 5pm and got to Paris at 8am (their time), so we slept on the plane. Airfare was $1800 for both of us. Food is decently priced, our hotel was the biggest expense but we stayed in a little hotel right by the Eiffel tower. You don't need to go all inclusive to stay in your budget.
I think you should not rule out Europe either. Of course the flights will be more expensive but, depending on where you are flying from, it may only $200-300 more expensive. Ther are a lot of AI ressorts in Europe, try Greece, Portugal, Malta, Turkey and even Egypt (not technically Europe) for good deals. My DH did a week long Greece AI for about $550 with friends last Sept. It was not the same level as our Sandlas honeymoon but it was also only a fraction of the price. They were happy with the food and facilities. I have also heard many good things about Turkey beach ressorts. We spent a week in Malta over Easter last year and it is a great little Island nation with several options but not the place to go for sandy beaches. However, if you like pools and culture look into Malta. There is even a Travelzoo special right now offering a Corinthia 5* property for I think 60 EUR per night in Malta, that is not AI but prices on the island are reasonable.
Oh I totally forgot to mention Iberostar.com They are AI and in Europe and the caribbean.
Where in Caribbean have you been? Personally if you want an All-Inclusive Sandals is the way to go. We went to Antigua for our HM and loved it. We have also recently booked a vacation to St. Lucia and staying at Sandals hotel again. Have you thought about doing a cruise? Go to Hawaii or even Europe?
@LovebirdsSC: I just came back from that resort! It was beautiful. The Elegance club option makes all the difference.
Advice - we had a musty room. If you get this problem, ask for oils for the oil diffuser(or bring some oil) and a dehumidifyer. We had no problems once that was done.
@slicey19: Hi! Do you have any recommendations for all inclsuives in the Canary Islands and Ibiza? We are looking to go to both for our honeymoon...last september we went to the Riu in Guanacaste, Costa Rica and thought it was really nice...was looking to see if there were other ones that were comparable or nicer...thanks! :)
@KatNYC2011: We went to the Guanacaste Riu last year and it was really nice...

I'm trying to plan a honeymoon and due to frustration I am posting on this forum for help. I'd like for the trip to be all inclusive because being on a budget I don't want us too concerned about money while we are on the honeymoon. I've looked at some Sandals resorts, but since we've been to the Caribbean before it isn't as attractive. I've thought about Hawaii, but I haven't come across all inclusive deals(meals, drinks, etc). I pretty much ruled out Eurpore due to expenses and the potential loss of days from jet lag.
I'm clearly on a budget and would like to keep the honeymoon under $5,000(under $4,000 is ideal). I'd like for our honeymoon to be at least 7 days during the week of May, 22 2011 since the wedding is on May 21st.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
