    @mollardmallard: I am in the same boat....we want to go to Caribbean next June as well for our honeymoon!

    what is your budget? I know that Punta Cana usually has the best deals but I have already been there before so I want to go somewhere different. We are looking at Aruba, Antigua, St. Lucia, and St. Martin.

    @mollardmallard:  What is your definition of "best?"  Is it the beach? Rooms?  Food?  Wine?  Availability of activities?  Ease of travel?  Honeymoon perks?  Spas?  Fitness facilities?  Concierge/butler services?  Ability to interact with the locals?

    For example, some couples want non-stop adventure activities outside of a resort every single day.  While others want to do nothing but lay on a beach & just veg for their entire stay.  Others rank food & wine as their priorities over beaches.  Others want to be pampered with daily spa treatments rather than run around going ziplining, kayaking, snorkeling, etc.

    There are a lot of questions to be answered, but once you start to think about some of those, it'll help to narrow the choices.  Since you're not going 'til June 2012, you have plenty of time to consider options!

    We went to Cocos Hotel in Antigua. It is all inclusive, and very small and private (only 26 couples can stay at a time, adults only).  Plus, each guest gets a free massage! They have other spa services available too, but we just did our free massages.  Unfortunately, all beaches on Antigua are public, but the location of the hotel made the beach one of the quieter ones I have ever seen.  Lounge chairs are reserved for hotel guests, and they have plenty so you don't have to race down in the morning to claim them like you do at some resorts.  The food was great, the drinks were REALLY strong, and we had an amazing time. It's not the resort to go to if you want to do a lot of activities; they don't offer water sports through the hotel, you have to book them through local vendors.  But if you want to relax and spend time at the beach, it was amazing.

    @mollardmallard:

    My husband and I went to the Exellence Punta Cana in June 2010. WE LOVED IT!!!! We booked through cheap carribean too and got a great deal!

    We picked this all inclusive resort because it had the most restaurants and bars to choose from. We splurged and went with the exellence club upgrade. It had a private beach and pool area and a 24 lounge with top shelf liquors.It was the furthest away from the airport but totally worth it. My husband speaks spanish and was talking to the shuttle driver from the airport and the driver told my husband that it is not the newest resort on the island but the best food and service and boy was he right! The service was amazing and the food was delicious!!! We have already said that we are going back asap!!! I think you should look into it but have a great honeymoon whereever you choose!!!

    Are you interested in Costa Rica at all? It is out of the hurricane zone and since you are going in June, it is something to consider. We had an amazing time there. The place we stayed has everything you are looking for; All Inclusive, all the food and alcohol of your choice, private chef, masseuse, lots of beachtime, tours (zip-lining is awesome). The best part is that it was totally private, no kids, no tourists (they only book one couple at at time).  We had this incredible private waterfall pool under the falls that was off-the-charts cool. It was the best!!!

    @bzybeebritt:I just got back from a 5 day vacation at the Majestic Elegance.  It was ok.  The beach, although reserved for only quests, seemed crowded at times and dirty with seaweed.  The pools were only open during certain hours.  Certains bars were only opened during certain times.  The food was good; I would recommend reservations at the sit down restaurants.  The room was ok - the bed and pillows weren't super comfortable.  My hair dryer didn't work and the air conditioner leaked the last day (and it took someone over an hour to come look at it).  The resort itself was clean.  We were travelling with other people and they indicated that Sandals (in the Bahamas), although more expensive, was way better.

    We did the Gran Bahia Principe -Punta Cana all inclusive. In the Esmerelda section of the resort.

    Unreal! Own section of the beach, adults only pool or the main pool (or the other pool's throughout the bigger part of the resort). Endless food, a bar always in good proximity. We did no activities, but the opportunities to do just about anything were there!
