    Hi bees,

I used to hate spicy foods. I would be extra sensitive to all things spicy and just not tolerate them. In the past couple of weeks though, my taste buds have changed their preferences. All of a sudden, stuff that used to be so spicy I couldn't eat it is now not spicy enough for me. What is going on? My boyfriend loves spicy stuff so he's been making it and I've been eating it but I still experienced kind of a sudden change in taste... I take the minipill so I don't get a period anyway but I test every month and I'm not pregnant (tested today 1 week post starting a new pack).

Has anyone else had such sudden changes in taste? Is it possible that I've just exposed myself so much to spicy foods that instead of a gradual change in tolerance I've experienced a sudden one?

You're all growned up! :) I used to not like spicy foods when I was a kid, then I travelled overseas to compete all over SE Asia for a couple of months. And now I like spicy food. Not many people crawl out of the womb and want to suck down hot sauce by the bottle. Normal!

Haha I know and I guess I come from a culture with a very non-spicy cuisine. So I've lived here 4 years in the US and just tried to avoid spicy foods, but have been forcing myself to try and eat a little spicy since meeting my BF 2.5 years ago. I guess now it's finally paid off! :)

Sounds like your tastes are just changing.

DH couldn't handle and didn't like spicy when we started dating. I came from a family where the philosophy was "if you're not sweating or crying, it's not hot enough".

    Now DH loves spicy!

I've read that your tastes change at different periods in your life.  Before I was 22 or so, I thought salad dressing was gross.  I wouldn't eat it.  One day, I suddenly found it appealing.  So odd!
