It seems like there's a lot of us out there! Just that perfect place in the summer...enough time to get things done after school gets out, with time left over to take a honeymoon before school starts back up again.

We're trying to get as much done this summer (my fiance is a teacher as well) as we can before school starts in the fall. Do you feel like your timeline is a little different because of the school calendar?

My fiance and I are both teachers as well, the summer was pretty much the only time that made sense. We got engaged in January and wanted to get married this summer, so June felt too soon, August too late, and July was perfect. Our timeline revolved around all of the July birthdays in my family. It's the perfect situation if you get out in June (like next week :) and have that remaining time to relax. I would recommend NOT getting a summer job in that time period and simply taking the opportunity to plan plan plan. The holiday breaks will probably be invaluable as well for site visits, etc. Yay teachers!

My FI and I  are both teachers! We were engaged in December of 07 and are getting married in 16 days!!!!!!!  I am done with school in 2 hours and my FI is already DONE!!!!!  I did alot of planning last summer and I will finish up with the wedding details in the next 2 weeks.  We then are going to Antigua for a week!!!!!  I have always dreamed of a winter wedding, but doesn't make sense when we have 3 months off!!!!!!  Good Luck to all the "teacher brides" and have a wonderful summer!!!!!All Teacher July 2010 Brides! : wedding july 2010 teachers Icon Biggrin

You girls are so lucky to have teacher husbands!  My beau is already worried about all of the summers that I will have off, and he will have to work.  He does not get a lot of time off at all - two weeks and that includes sick days.  I keep telling him that he can't get sick for the next year so that we can have some time off after the wedding!

How are you doing with planning so far? My goal is to get most of the details worked out before September, only I'm nervous my tastes may change or that I'll find something else I like better after I decide (in terms of decor, dresses...)

Yeah, not gonna lie...I'm really looking forward to the time we'll have off together for breaks/summer, although we'll probably both work during the summers as well (though not the summer we get married!).

ilovetommy, do you have any advice for us? What helped you out in planning? What did you get out of the way during the summer that you're SO glad you did?

I love all these teacher brides!!  I too am getting married next July and feel so overwhelmed that there is not enough time to get eveything planned before school starts in Aug. I live in Southern Va.  Plus, I am planning my wedding for 800 miles away where my family lives... EEEKKKKK All Teacher July 2010 Brides! : wedding july 2010 teachers Icon Eek

I'm not a 2010 bride (already married), but my hubby and I are both teachers too! Just wanted to drop by and say CONGRATS and HAPPY PLANNING! We couldn't wait until summer so we got married over winter break and took the first week off of school to honeymoon. No regrets. :P

I'm a teacher but I'm a June 2010 bride...close enough, right? Since I'm starting at a new school in the fall, I want to try and get as much done as I can this summer (but it's already July, ack!)...So much planning to do, gotta love summer vacation, all my friends are jealous, ha!

I'm a teacher but I'm getting married in MAY!!!! Gasp! The audacity! We are getting married on the friday of Memorial Day weekend and as of now, I still plan to take my honeymoon right after!  But things could change, we might do a mini-moon and have a real one in the summer! We won't live together until we're married (I'm 22, he's 23 and we are both in the church) so I'm not going down without SOME sort of honeymoon.... We both agree on that! ;-)

As for my planning timeline, we've been engaged for 2.5 yrs so we have more already done than most 10 month away brides.

I'm not a teacher, but my FI is.. that's why we chose July.. so that we'd have some time where he would be off before the wedding to get the last minute details done (he's very helpful) and enough time after the wedding to go on a nice long honeymoon and then return life to normal.

I'm a teacher and a July bride. In fact, July 4th, so I am excited that today, for the first time, I can say it is LESS THAN A YEAR to our wedding!!! YAY! Of course, that is kind of scary too since we have next to nothing planned (just a venue and a photographer). I agree with the other brides on here that I am planning on using this summer to get most of my details done and sewn up...iGood luck ladies!!

My FI pointed out that our "year away" date is coming up this week. It only just occurred to me that every year we'll have a holiday right before our wedding anniversary. :)

We don't even have a venue yet! We keep looking but nothing has "clicked" for us yet. We have a DJ and a florist, that's it!

Only 6 more weeks until I go back to work! :(

Another teacher bride here July 2010(right in the middle!) Yay for summer vacation! I thought I'd have time to get planning done this summer since I'm not teaching summer school, but taking grad school classes has consumed all my time! Fortunately I have the big things out of the way church, venue, catering, and photographer. I guess the enxt big thing would be to get a dress, but I just don't seem to have any time to go out and look!

Hello fellow teachers! I feel so behind schedule. I only have the venue, color and date picked out. July 3, 2010 ~ We are so excited.. but I'm worried that everything won't get done. My goal is to complete 90% of everything by Jan. 2010.. is this possible? With teaching 6th grade, weight lose, planning, family, and responsibilities ~ not to mention house hunting.. This is so crazy! Wish me luck ladies and good luck to you as well. All Teacher July 2010 Brides! : wedding july 2010 teachers Icon Neutral

    Hi teachers!

My fiance and I are both music teachers and I feel like we've been running a marathon since we got engaged two and a half weeks ago.  We know that once school starts it will be a never-ending stream of All-State auditions, marching band practices, private voice lessons, and faculty meetings.  We also both teach middle school (though not at the same one), so we figured we'd get as much done as possible in the next three weeks.

So far, we're not doing too badly...we have a venue, caterer, DJ, photographer...and I found a dress that I just LOVE.  We'll be getting married on July 17, 2010.  That leaves me about a month after school gets out to handle the little things and then it's showtime!

    Best of luck girls!

I just graduated in May and I'm hoping that I'll have a teaching job set by wedding time. (Subbing this year.) My fiance is in the Air Force (thank goodness for job security!) and we don't know yet where we'll be living after we're married. It's driving me crazy not being able to check out schools. Good luck to everyone in the classroom and on the wedding front!

Wow I love this post. I am a kindergarten teacher in MD outside of DC.  My fiance and I decided to have a"state-side" destination wedding on Bald Head Island, NC. July 10, 2010  Planning 6 hours away can be a little challenging but so far so good.
I attached a few pics of our venue that we took when we visited.

I'm a music teacher but FH helps run the family business. He doesn't get much time off so I have a feeling I'll be doing a lot of the stuff leading up to the wedding by myself. Weekends are the time when I do most of my planning. I try to cram as much as I can into the weekends and so far I've gotten a lot done! I'll probably finish a good chunk once spring break rolls around too.

I am a middle school language arts teacher, so it is super important that we got married in the middle of the summer.  You never can tell how many snow days you will have in Maine!  Mr. Library is also graduating from graduate school in June, so we didn't want to compete with any sort of school event.  July was the time to do it!

Wow so many teacher brides!  We got engaged in april 09 and picked July 31st 2010 so that I would have all of June and July to get things ready for the wedding after school's out.  The year and half has seemed soooo long - and so many people thought I was crazy last summer for doing wedding stuff, but it paid off since I have no time during the school year :)

I'm a teacher bride too!  We get out of school at the  end of June and the wedding is July 10.  Teaching full time, planning a wedding, and being in grad school is sure take a toll on me.  Can't wait til it's all over!!

Ooh cool post!  I'm a teacher bride too, duh... I teach high school English and coach soccer.  We don't start until after Labor Day so I chose mid-August.  I love July but I turn 30 July 31st and my BF turns 30 July 16th so we're going to plan a huge B-day party between our birthdays.  That left August for the wedding (and anniversary date).  It's amazing how fast summer weekends seem to fill up!

I did a lot of my venue research before school started and booked shortly after.  I somehow did the photog during school, but I waiting for dress shopping until Christmas break.  I'm spending my entire prep period on weddingbee but I still don't seem to be getting anything done!

I'm a teacher getting married in July! It just made sense for us. Another teacher at my school is getting married the day after us, which I found funny :). Needless to say the weeks are getting more and more exhausting between wedding planning, lesson planning and state testing coming up. Not to mention the kids are already getting antsy for spring break ... we still have three weeks! *Sigh* We'll survive :)

@sarahsd ... I've been sneaking on weddingbee during my prep period too! It's so terrible. Oh well :)

Im an art teacher and getting married in July. My FH also works in the schools, but works through the summer. July 31 is our date and I think it falls perfectly in midst of post-school relief and pre-school preparation. It will be so great to go back to school as a Mrs.!

Good luck and congrats teachers... Spring Break is the first sign of SUMMER!!!
