So let this be a plea for help as well as a warning to not be as stupid as me! My hard drive crashed and I have now lost all wedding info. Guest lists, labels, saved pictures, menus…all gone. After I had my moment of tears and anger I am ready to move on. So I am looking to the hive. Do you have go to sites for decorations, dresses, makeup ideas, gift ideas, anything that you visit for wedding support/ideas (obviously other than weddingbee 🙂 ) If you do can you share them? Thanks ladies, wedding is June 6th so I gots to get back on track!

Oh no, so sorry to hear that JDH – I know another bee had a similar situation maybe a week ago…something I found out about here thanks to the hive which I just love is the this site for ideas, color inspiration etc…I know more experienced bees will be quick to help with better info…but check this out in the meantime http://zenadiadesignscolorpalettes.blogspot.com/

Ugh!!! Terrible! Do you think your mom/dad may have any info that you gave them?
I like Stylemepretty.com!
I tend to email myself documents and websites etc so that I have them in my e-mail. Doesn’t help now but it might in the future!

Don’t know a ton about computers, so don’t know exactly what happened to yours or how to fix it. But the bee who had this happen recently was able to fix hers with a system restore. In the start menu, you should have a "control panel" option. Open that, then hit "performance and maintenance." On the left should be an option for "system restore." Click that and it’ll walk you through how to do it. It’s saved me before, so *maybe* it could help you! Good luck!

If your drive is irreparable by conventional means, consider taking it to a data professional. For a fee (sometimes steep) they can often retrieve all your data!

Firefighter Praza Girl lost all of her stuff last week. Her fiance set the clock back on the computer (I think) and they recovered everything. Good luck!

I agree with Cherry Pie– if you feel like everything is just totally busted, take it to a professional because sometimes they can get your stuff back for you.
I actually started keeping all my stuff in google docs– I prefer online hosting because I can keep my things private or share them with members of my wedding party as needed without worrying about emailing them. AND there’s no risk of losing stuff if your hard drive fails.

Usually hard drive info is retrievable.. good luck!

Try the Geek Squad – they should be able to recover hard drive info!

I agree…go find a data recovery person and see if they can help get some of it back. That is so stressful though! What kind of websites are you looking for? Snippet and Ink, Style Me Pretty, Elizabeth Anne Designs, Ritzy Bee are some of my favorites.

Oh no! That’s awful! I hope you can maybe remember some of the details or get the Geek Squad to fix the computer! The resources that I use for wedding planning are http://snippetandink.blogspot.com, http://www.stylemepretty.com, and http://blog.theweddinglens.com. Good luck!!!

I would definitely contact someone who knows about computers because most of the time the data is still there, you just have to know how to retrieve it. I also would email myself any wedding stuff so I would have it available anywhere. I did alot of planning during the weekends while I was at work so I needed to be able to retrieve stuff between home and work. If you do retrieve all your information I would definitely back it up with either a flashdrive or by saving it online like Miss Burgundy does. I’m thinking about getting the Clickfree external hard drive from QVC for our computer. Good luck!

I used this post as a lesson to me, and went out and bought an external hard drive yesterday.
Wedding info is completely backed up now!

as a quick back-up, send your files to your e-mail account… 🙂
