  • Wedding: October 2013 (as mentioned above) has some interesting free patterns, but most of the site is paid stuff.

Sometimes I just google the item I want to knit (say, sweater) and follow the links to find something I like.

+1 for Ravelry! That’s where I get, like, 95% of my patterns, free or otherwise. Plus, it’s got an awesome custom search feature that allows you to search for basically whatever you want.

@mcarey2:  I get most of mine from Revelry. But you can also find tons on the yarn brand websites – Lion brand has some cute ones.

I concur with ravelry!! I crochet, but they have lots of free patterns for both knitting and crocheting. And you can see how peoples real life projects turned out using the pattern

Love love love Ravelry!  Also, the yarn companies have free patterns online too.  Try Lion Brand, Bernat , Red Heart, etc.  you might also check Etsy for inexpensive pattern downloads.
