I'm basically allergic to everything, lol. Grass, pollen, dust, mold...and most antibiotics. I also recently developed an allergy to raspberries, which is completely random. One of my aunts had bad allergies as a kid, but she outgrew them. My grandmother is allergic to all berries, but I don't think it's a life-threatening allergy.
I have slight dust and grass allergies, as well as to an antibiotic. However, I just get hives when I take it, nothing life-threatening.
No one in my family has severe, life-threatening allergies.
ETA: I just remembered that SIL's boyfriend has severe allergies to cats/dogs, as well as anything in the apple family if it's not cooked. I think that includes peaches and pineapples too, but I don't know what all he is allergic too.
I'm slightly allergic to pollen and cats. Runny nose, red itchy eyes, sneezing/coughing, sinus headache, etc. But easily controlled by OTC allergy meds. (And the cat allergy only bothers me when I haven't been around cats for a while. When I've lived with cats, I've been fine after a couple weeks, my body seems to adjust.)
My nephew, parents, and sister have about the same allergies as me.
My dad is allergic to melons. He can't eat watermelon, cantalope, etc. His throat swells up. He doesn't carry an epi-pen or anything though, he just doesn't eat any melons. The rest of my family can still have melons in his proximity.
My grandma is allergic to penicillin, I'm not sure her reaction, but it's bad enough she wears a medical bracelet about it.
i'm allergic to cats, dogs, pollen, dust mites...
i'm doing allergy shots right now.
I don't have life threatening allergies but they're definitely severe. I'm routinely so swollen (in my head and nose) it's hard to be comfortable and get work done. I'm sneezing nonstop and blowing my nose. Im frequently itchy too Allergies really ruin my life and theres really not a cure. I take a couple of zyrtec and nose drops a day. The doctors don't have much to help. I work in an old building with rats and roaches and old mold so I know that's what cause it.
I'm not too bad... when I get a bug bite it tends to get HUGE though. My FI has a ton of allergies on the other hand. He blows is nose on a constant basis and if he gets stung by a bee he might need to head to the ER.
You missed the allergies to other things as well. Like those like me, with fatal allergies to latex.
I have no allergies but my sister is severely allergic to tree nuts (walnuts, pecans, cashews, etc). She carries her Epi-pen and Benadryll everywhere.
@abbyful: I have a moderately severe allergy to latex and I think that's another fairly common one.
Oh, I wanted to add that FI's mom has a gluten/wheat allergy aka celiac's disease. It's a good chance that FI has it, but he "ignores" it. Our future child(ren) may possibly have the same problem.
ETA: I'm lactose intolerant as is my mother.
My whole immediate family is lactose intolerant...except me. Whoot! Haha.
Other than that...just general allergies to dust/pollen.
@soon2bhis: Oops! I forgot lactose and gluten intolerance when I ticked the poll!
My family has a huge list of allergies (mostly plants and dog/cat/horse) no food allergies. That and asthma.
I have no allergies or asthma. =)
I have severe grass, weed, mold and pet allergies but that isn't an option in your poll.
I've become slightly lactose intolerant in the past few years, but I'm not aware of any other allergies.
FH developed some pretty bad seasonal allergies this past year.
there really doesn't seem to be an option on the poll that works for me. i don't think i have any life-threatening allergies, but i wouldn't consider what i have "mild." it's no walk in the park. i'm always sneezing. always. i hate it.
my mom's even worse, she's allergic to everything but the kitchen sink. her allergist said he'd never seen someone with a case as bad as hers. she has a few medical allergies and a few food allergies, but for the most part, she, like me, has severe reactions to airborn things.
I am fatally allergice to bees and tylenol. I have an allerty to mushroom and raisins but nothing a little benadryl can not cure. The other to involve medical intervention.
Can't handle furry animals and typical hayfever/dust/pollen allergies.
No food or medicine allergies.
Can I say "Other" I am allergic to anything outside (pollen, flowers, grass, trees, etc.), most stuff inside (dust, mold, etc.), and some animals....but not allergic to mediacation and the only food I am allergic to is crab (no other shell fish..found out the hard way). Take allergy mediacation daily, year-round.
I have food allergies, pollen (all types), bee stings, and perfume allergies
Where's the option for severe allergies to other things like grass, trees, molds, animals, etc.?
We all have pretty heinous seasonal allergies. Me, my mom, my brother, my grandma, etc. I am bothered the most by mold, pollen and dust. I get bad allergies mostly in the spring and fall.
(I've got them right now! yay.....)
Just developed allergies over the summer. Severely allergic to dust mites, grass, pollen, mold, cats (lucky me as i have one!), dogs, ragweed, milk, wheat, feathers, and much more.
I can't handle it sometimes. I'm sitting here right now with a saturated tissue because my nose will NOT stop. I'm nervous that my nose is going to run all day on our wedding.
Since I am allergic to wheat, I can't eat a great amount of it. I had beer last weekend (one too many) and I wanted to die because I couldn't breathe!
My twin sister developed allergies young, at 9 years old. My aunt also has allergies. I hate them!!
I agree with PPs that not all hayfever type allergies are 'mild'. They might not be as severe as anaphalaxasis and need ASAP medical attention, but I have ended up in the ER because of cats. My sister has had to be put on an IV of benedryl because of her hayfever. So they can be just as severe, but just slower acting. If you include asthma, then immediate medical attention may be necessary.
I have both severe food allergies and more 'typical' but severe hay fever (pollen, molds, dander, animals, birds, etc). If I had the choice, I would choose to cure my hay fever like allergies before my severe food allergies.
I don't have any severe allergies. I only have seasonal allergies. I don't have any relatives that I can think of who are severely allergic to medicine or food.
I am allergic to pretty much any animal with fur. It stinks because I love animals but will never be able to have a pet :(. I get pretty much miserable.... sneezy, puffy, hives, hard to breathe... and sometimes it can make me sick for up to a week
You don't have an option for me. I have severe allergies, but not in the categories available on your list. I'm extremely allergic to pollen, dust, mold, mites, mildew, grass, trees, pet dander, and anything else airborn. My allergies can sometimes trigger my asthma, and that is scary. After years of not needing to use an inhaler, this summer and fall I've had to have it with me at all times because I've had trouble breathing.
I have also developed a severe allergy to avocado in recent years, which is really sad.
No one in my extended family has anything more than minor seasonal allergies (a little sneezing and running noses type deal).
DH is allergic to bee stings.
I am allergic to alcohol. If I drink I would die within ten minutes :( I also have many food allergies but they aren't life threatening they just make me feel sick. Airborne allergies I am allergic to two types of trees but that just makes my sinuses act up nothing to serious. The alcohol allergy runs in my dad's family. There is a good chance my kids have it. We are a sober family obviously lol
I'm allergic to pollen, dust, mold, animals, bactrim (an antibiotic, not severe it just makes me extremely itchy) and dyes in laundry detergent (makes me extremely itchy). My younger sister is lactose intolerant and has celiac disease (basically she's allergic to gluten/wheat). My mom is severely allergic to peanuts (it's crazy! she can't even be around someone who's eating them, she starts to cough and wheeze) penicillin and I think bee stings. My dad is allergic to pollen, dust, mold, animals and perfumes. My youngest sister is allergy-free as far as I know (lucky!).
I get itchy in the fall! So itchy that my arms are red from scratching. I take benadryl and that helps a lot, but then I'm sleepy. :(
I don't have any "everyday" allergies such as grass, pollen, etc. which I'm thankful for. I would hate to be allergic to something I couldn't avoid. I am allergic to penicillin and erythromycen and have wound up in hospital for taking both...but luckily I know this now and can usually just avoid them!

Do you or your family members have allergies?
ETA: insects
