I’m a street size 4/6 but I have a pretty large bust and they ordered me a 12 for my Allure gown  – i tried on a 10 and it fit great but sample dresses tend to stretch out over time and aren’t as tight as new dresses.

This is my dress! I’m a lot smaller, but I had to order up for my hips as well. My alterations lady said it would be easy to alter because the rouching layer is on top of the silk layer, and it’s an easy removable and tack back in! Mine was altered down (I haven’t seen it finished yet, just first alterations, my wedding’s not till July), and a bustle was put in for $150 CAN. So hopefully yours is not too expensive!

They pulled the “samples stretch” excuse, with my 1st daughter to marry (Lazaro), so she ordered 1 size up, from the sample, which fit her perfectly. She had to have the side seams taken-in twice, on the top half of her gown. Luckily I had read a weddingwire review that warned buyers that the salon – and other’s I hear – orders too big and then rakes in the $$$, in their alterations department. We had all the bridal party gowns altered by an independent seamstress. My 2nd daughter to marry got an Allure Couture. The sample was a 12 and it was tight in the ribcage; they measured her for a 16, but she went with a 14, and paid extra to get a corset back. The bridesmaid gowns seem to be just as bad, with some lines charging $30-40more for a size 16 or 18 and up. The mother of the bride’s go in the opposite extreme. I’m tall (14 top, 12 waist, 10 hips) and the 14 Mori Lee VM fell off of me. They had to order a 12, due to my chest, but said I’d have to have the hips taken in 6 inches. God only knows how that’s going to look…

I had the same problem. I’m a street size 8 and the sample size 10 fit me well, but a little snug. According to my measurements they told me to order a size 14! I agree the dress may stretch a little over time, but not two sizes. I went with a 12 and it fits like a glove. Use your judgement, and not just what they tell you to order. Especially if you have a sample to compare to. Good luck!

SilentCall:  Have you got your dress in yet!?

destinationjc:

<br />I am now a little worried because I would normally be a street size 10 and ordered a 10 dress.. When I was measured by the consultant the measurements matched up almost identically to the 10…. ahhhhh

I wore an Allure bridal gown for my ceremony. I would say go off the sample because I went by the measurements the bridal salon took and my dress had to be altered considerably when it came in.

SilentCall:  I’m a street size 8 and I fit the allure size 14 in the 9003 style to a T – my measurements were right on their measurements for sizing. So I literally went up 3 entire dress sizes! Do not worry! Also, alterrations are alllllllways a thing. 🙂
