I started a thread asking about this, but got no love back. Sad sad. ^_^ Maybe you can help!
Okay, we're opting for non-traditional music for the wedding. The problem is, for the song I want to walk down to, it really needs to run for at least the first minute and 22 seconds to get to the end of the good part. I don't really want to cut anything out, or wait too long after it starts to come out. But a minute and a half sounds like a pretty long time, given that it's a pretty average length aisle. Any ideas how to draw it out?
That is a good one... given that you don't want to cut anything out before the "good part" I would say that your options are:
WE also did non-traditional music! What music are you doing?
Mr. Bee -- well I'd love to have a party with all of the other Bumble Bees, but it is more likely that I will sit here and type on my computer while celebrating with a nice glass of Moscato wine.
We're thinking an instrumental of The Verve's "Bitter Sweet Symphony" for the girls, and Edwin McCain's "I'll Be" for me. Still iffy on that tho, cause the lyrics are a little off for a wedding ("love's suicide" and "gallows of heartache"). But I've always thought that was the most amazing love song, and something like that suits us really well. We talked about trying to play Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" at some point, but decided it wasn't worth my parents freaking out, and we weren't sure the southern baptist church where both ceremony and reception are being held would appreciate that. ^_^
Also, can you explain some of the acronyms around here? FH I'm thinking is Future Husband, but FI I don't get. And I've seen some others I'm not sure of. You need a forum just for noobs!
I teach high school English (but please don't judge my terrible spelling errors on weddingbee, I get time off too!). I teach sophomore regular and honors level classes and I run a freshman transition program called Link Crew. I love all I do!
MightySapphire -- I've never really thought about that before, but I guess I would have to say Ms. Avocado because I also read her blog regularly.
LizSmith: Also, can you explain some of the acronyms around here? FH I'm thinking is Future Husband, but FI I don't get. And I've seen some others I'm not sure of. You need a forum just for noobs!
FH -- future husband, FI -- Future Inlaws is what I always thought it meant, but I always just used FH and then fmil for future mother in law (so on and so forth). It took me a month or two to get most of the acronyms. I think bm for bridesmaids is pretty funny though!
I met my hubby on match.com! He had been on it for almost a year and I had just joined. He was only my second date from match! I'll be honest, I was following the guidlines in the book The Rules to the letter when I met him, and I believe 100% that is the reason why I was able to catch him when all the other women he met on match were left behind.
On our 3rd date he asked me to take down my match profile so we could try going out without the "what ifs" in the background -- and here we are now!
I love the OC, but I'm nothing like the horrible women on the tv show! Unfortunatly, we can't afford to buy a house we love here, so we are currently looking at houses in Corona. I lived out of state for a year and was miserable, so I know that so cal is the place for me! I like the close proximity to the beach, the mountains, airports, amusment parks, our families, and our jobs!
Woot Woot! I'm there! Thank you so much!!! My husband is convinced that I have completely lost it.
woohoo! congratulations on becoming a bumble bee! next stop - honey bee!
What do you think of the gap between Bumble bee (1000 posts) and Honey bee (2500 posts)... is the 1500 point gap in post counts intimidating?
I set my goal for Bumble bee and I can hardly think of becoming a Honey Bee! I took me over 9 months to get to 1000 posts, so it will be at least another year before I get the next honor. But, I imagine it is a great honor -- doe Honey Bee come with a gift bag? :-)
there are only two honeybees (me and suzanno) so sure why not! i don't know what but i'll think of something! any suggestions?
Haha it should! I feel like I should get something for just being a Busy bee... maybe a backrub or a spa certificate haha.
I think it should be a gift bag full of fun "bee" related stuff. Maybe stuff from Burt's Bees, some honey, some tea, and a big bee stuffed animal!
haha that's a great idea. i will definitely do that for suzanno, and anyone else who becomes a honeybee!
Hmm that is incentive enough to get working on posting more.... Especially for a poor grad student who needs something to perk up her life... ;o) I second that suggestion! (though I am soooooo far away from that many posts)
It is a really big gap...could there be something at like 1700? It just seems like you'd be celebrating your first wedding anniversary before you reach another level...(or if the posts keep up the way they've been going it could go by really fast!)
Maybe the gift bag could include some Weddingbee shwag like the mousepad? Or maybe a special avatar/icon like the bloggers have? Love the Burt's Bees idea! B&BW sells Warm Milk & Honey bedtime Body Wash...what a cute idea! Gift Bags...
Congratulations! Hey, I have a totally non-wedding-related question - do they still teach English grammar at the high school level? I'm trying to help my step-kids write resumes for summer jobs, and reviewing their essays for scholarship applications, and I'm truly stunned. And they both took AP English, and got pretty good grades...
suzanno -- it totally depends on the teacher. Grammar is supposed to be taught at the elementary level and then built upon in middle school, so that in high school we can teach literature, critital thinking, and higher level writing. However, many students come to me without a strong foundation in grammar and writing, and it is very difficult to teach when you have 36+ kids in a class (mulitplied by 5 classes a day). I have found that most high school teachers only do grammar as worksheets or daily oral language because of the amount of work/grading. I suggest you purchase the book "The Art of Styling Sentences" to use with your kids. I use this with my students and they love it! It is a very non-traditional approach to grammar, but it makes more sense than forcing them to diagram sentences.
I love chatting about my profession, so any questions are welcome!

Hello everyone! When I logged on today I realized that I am only 9 posts away from Bumble Bee status, and after Lilliandy's precedent I thought that instead of randomly posting answers to other posts, I would instead see if anyone has questions to ask me! I am willing to answer just about anything!
Thank you!
