Hahaha. I did the same thing right before FI proposed. I went with a clear polish...I used OPI's Nail Envy. It looks classic and timeless. And it feels pretty like acrylic nails!
OPI had a few a while back that had bridal names like "Marry the man" etc. They were all soft pink colors. You might still be able to find them.
love opi's soft pinks (i have them on my toesies now) I say Chic in the City or Bubble Bath... Good luck and have fun on your vacation and try not to think of it too much.
I agree with pp that say clear or pale pink. (or male brown depending on your skin tone... something that will look natural). Congrats!
I say go for a coral-ey red (for the pop and contrast to make the rock stand out or the ol' fashioned and my always favorite standby, the french manicure!

I had to laugh because I definitely did this! When I suspected my husband was going to propose, I kept my nails perfectly manicured, just in case I needed to snap some photos!
When I got engaged, I was wearing Ballet Slippers from Essie, which is a nice light pink. If you want something brighter, my all-time favorite red is "I'm Not Really a Waitress" from OPI. For something darker, I'm liking "Give Me Moor" from the new OPI Espana collection.
OMG Jessie that's what I'm wearing right now on the fingers n toes! I love it for fall.
if you like fun colors, i LOVE essie "greenport" if only because it reminds me of those little blue boxes ;-)

i love opi nail polishes! I have black cherry chutney on my nails right now, but if you don't want anything so loud, maybe go for a more muted pink... otherwise engaged or pinking of you!
Im with Belle on this one. Husband loves when I wear deep reds because they make the ring REALLY noticeable. Pale pinks are elegant and classic, but for impact factor Id go with something bold so the ring pops
I'm a huge fan of light pink shades by Essie. My favorite is called ballet flats or something like that....
There is just something girly and fun about a light pink shade!
I have OPI's "Here's to Us", which is a nice light pink and for red, OPI's "I'm Not Really a Waitress" and "Red, Red, Rhine".
I also like Essie's "Ballet Slippers" and the "Bordeaux" (sp?)
OPI Bubble Bath - it's what Giada on the Food Network wears, and her nails always look great! I inadvertently got a manicure the day before the proposal & that's what I was wearing.
Hahahaha! Glad I'm not the only person out there who did this, I went and got a french manicure before we got engaged on a weekend getaway.
lol how cute! love the idea...because of my job, i don't wear any nail polish most of the time, but how cute of an idea...
I'm a huge fan of China Glaze nail polish (which you can find at Sally's Beauty Supply or perhaps order online) and they have practically every color under the sun including metallics and irridescents. Go with whatever color you love. If pastels don't fit who you are, don't feel obligated to wear them just because they are considered "traditionally bridal".
I'm one of the rare few people who actually doesn't like OPI just because in my experience, it chips without fail no sooner than it's applied, even with top coat to protect it, which I have never experienced with China Glaze. I've also heard great things about Zoya. When I was in beauty school, I dreaded people coming in with their own bottles of Essie or OPI because both of them were always too thick to apply evenly.
although i don't wear nail polish much (duh, i posted earlier!) i do paint my toenails a lot & i second china glaze!! i bought 'for audrey' because like bellamargot suggested with essie's greenport, this color is so tiffany's =)
I am lovin' OPI's Espana collection for fall... right now I'm wearing Manicurist of Seville on my fingers and toes and it is gorgeous - looks like sangria. :)

I had french acrylic nails when I got engaged.. I think white airbrush looks great with any ring.

And my nails were totally not done (chipped paint from a couple weeks before)- that's how much I was not expecting the proposal! But the next day I painted them pale pink :)
I am obsessed with Sally Hansen Sunrise, Sunset... It is orange with gold in it. Perfect for fall!!

Hahaha - I totally kept my nails nice for about 3 months. After Christmas (when I was really expecting a proposal), I just cut them all off and gave up. That's when he proposed - with my shorty au naturale nails :) I do want to wear something for the wedding - thought I'm having trouble deciding between red and nude.
I am wearing a nude basecoat/ridgefiller with Sally Hansen's Diamond Strength in Diamond... No messages there at all, no!
I've been wanting something boring-ish and unnoticeable, usually my nails are some odd color (the grays are making me drool!), but this Diamond, it is just a fine silver glitter in clear polish. Barely noticeable unless you're looking at my hands.

I love OPI's soft pinks as well. I wear "Second Honeymoon" a lot. I also love a great french manicure - can't beat it for classic and flattering!
OMG! I was just thinking about this yesterday but I don't wanna jinx myself.... I think I'm going with a french manicure.... Maybe the polish will summon the ring... Ill paint tonight...
I remember doing this too!! I was all about taking care of my nails and growing them out....I always made sure to have a file on hand and to always have at least a clear coat. I ended up making sure I had an up to date french manicure at least 2X a week. I also liked the soft pink hues..for fall I love the deep rich colors though.
Oh my gosh, I am gonna be going crazy trying to keep my nails looking good these holidays. I am really hoping it happens, and I dont want to be caught slippin lol
Thanks everyone!!! He didn't propose while we were on vaction although my nails did look good while we were there. I wore OPI Sweetheart.
He ended up proposing last weekend and of course..................my nails were nekkid. Oh well!!!

I'm pretty sure BF will be proposing while we're on vacation next week. I'd like to have my nails look decent as I'm sure I'll be snapping pics w/ our phones to send to family and friends.
No color is too bold, I love pretty much all colors except yellow. I need nice nails and some super good vibes!!!! He's had the ring for months and it's driving me nuts.
