Buy a dress to fit your hips and have the top taken in.

Yup, buy the larger size for the hips.  Have the top taken in.  Choose your alterations person ahead of time, and let them know about your time crunch.  It can be done.

I had to have my dress re-altered just a few days before my wedding as I had lost weight due to wedding stress… someone will be able to get it done for you in time.

Stick with what fits the hips, Im a 18 hip but a 14 top so yea my dress will need some alterations when I get it and I will be under a three week crunch as well

@Awesomet317:  i would not stress and order the smaller size ; ( were all stressing enough with planning our weddings ; ) im a size 18 top and a 16 bottom bridal i ordered the 18. i figure i can always lose more weight if i can but if i dont ill still fit in to my dress and no stressing about it.

I would ask your dressmaker/tailor to book you in for alternations in December-now!. As December is a busy time of year for everyone. Dressmakers may not be busy with too many weddings, but with christmas/ new years parties and holidays, they can be really busy. I am sure that once you have your booking with the dressmaker, you will be fine! Good luck with the wedding planning!
