Hey Bees! For the first time, I’m going to be alone for New Years Eve. My husband is working nightsift, and I live on the other side of the country from any, and everyone I know… going home isn’t an option, plus I wouldn’t want him to be completely alone out here, even if he’s working.
So Bees, I know this is such a helpful community, and I was hoping you all might have some great ideas and suggestions!
It’s just going to be and my puppy, so I ask you all… if you were alone for NYE what things might you spend the night doing?

@ishafortin: I will also be alone for my first NYE in 4 yrs! I am planning on making myself an array of appetizers and queing up a great list of movies on Netflix.

I’d pour myself a nice glass of wine, throw in a few fun appetizers & watch tv.

I’d for sure be watching Netflix and eating some great takeout. Perhaps I’d drink some champagne if I’m feeling festive. Other activities I might engage in: paint my nails, plan for a fun craft, take a bubble bath. I know how to really live it up.

If I were alone on New Year’s Eve…I’d drink wine and eat cheese. Probably some chocolate, too. And watch tv.
WHOA I AM SOOOOO CRAZY lol.

@ishafortin: If it were me, I would order pizza, grab some wine and a good movie and call it a night.. maybe switch over to watch the ball drop at midnight and then text all my friends who were out wishing them a Happy New Year. I spent my first New Year’s holiday alone in a new city and did just that and it was actually not a bad night!

I’ve been alone on NYE’s before! I started the night by opening a good bottle of wine and ordering Chinese food. After eating, I took a long bubble bath with a good book and music, gave my self a facial and did my nails. In bed by 12:30 am. Not the most exciting NYEs I’ve had, but definitely the most relaxing!

Thanks ladies! I love these suggestions… 🙂
I hope my computer is in by then because, Netflix does sound like a great way to pass the time!

You could go volunteer, maybe help out at a party at the local seniors’ center or a children’s hospital. I’m sure your local Wounded Warriors or USO would love an extra set of hands too!

It’s silly, but one of my best holidays was one fourth of july when I stayed home and watched movies alllll day and ate a pound of candy and an entire pizza.. By myself. Hahaha. I don’t know why, but I felt so relaxed!
I also suggest doing something that you want to do for the rest of the year.. Like if you want to learn a new craft, or take up a hobby, do that on new years eve!

My fiance willl be working night shift too. Every NYE we make a list of goals for the next year, so we’ll do that and once he leaves for work, I plan on pigging out on the couch in my sweats! I think NYE parties are overrated 🙂

@ishafortin: What I’ve done in the past-Grab some girlfriends and hit the town!!! Even if it’s just to get dressed up and have a nice late night dinner!
Grab some champagne, pop it open and watch the ball drop on TV!
…Kiss your dog at midnight!!

I’m in the same boat. Alone on NYE for the first time. FI is half way across the country and I have no family here. I guess I will do what PP have said….pig out and watch TV 🙂 However, I don’t even have my dog to kiss at midnight, she’s still in IL. I work til around 7pm so it shouldn’t be that bad!

Just treat it as any other night. Go to bed before midnight (or stay up and watch the festivities on TV).
Get some good food, some wine, and sit on the sofa lol. That’s what I would do.
We don’t exactly knock ourselves partying on NYE anyway.

DH and I rarely get to spend NYE together, as he’s a chef and most people tend to go out for dinner before heading to parties or the countdown concert in town. I usually sit up with DD (if she can make it that long), have a few drinks and relax.
