My husband is gone until next Sunday, he’s not here to celebrate with me that I just got this KICKASS job that comes with a 15K raise!
End of mortgage, here we come baby!!! 🙂
I guess I’ll have my wine alone, unless one of you ladies want to share the joy with me!

Yeah I’m beyond excited!
When I took my current job, I was overqualified for it but figured it was a way in, plus it paid more than my old social worker job. But I got very bored, very fast, and job opportunities don’t come fast…
Anyway, this position, I didn’t think I should apply, because it’s like two steps above what I do now, I felt like I was going too fast, but my manager convinced me to try, and here I am!
I don’t know when I get to start because paperwork and everything takes sooooo much time (I applied last July, tested in August, had my interview in November and my answer only now. Fortunately there’s a manager who heard about me and wants me right away, so I’m thinking a month or two, max).
It’s sooo good for us, because this gets me to the point I want to be in my career. I’ll work in this position until we have kids, then I’ll stay at home with the kids until they start school, then I can go back to work at the same level. Glad I will be going back to an interesting position, not a boring one!
Seems like everything is falling into place for me and I’m so blessed that my life seems set and ready for the future!

Congrats!! Do you work in government? I’m hoping to get there some day!

Congratulations! That is fabulous for you and your FI!

Yeah, for the government.
I really enjoy it although all the processes are very long.
What are you looking to do there? Getting in is the hardest part, after that, it’s pretty smooth… I’ve been complaining about how long it takes, but really, in 18 months I’m at my dream job, so it’s not that bad!
I could give you some tips to apply if you want!

@egb – I’m an engineer, I’m hoping to get in with DND someday. I work for a defense contractor now, so I feel like that’s going to help my chances. I think the major thing I need to work on is language. I am nowhere near bilingual and I think that’s going to really hurt me, especially here in Ottawa! If you have tips, that would be awesome!!
That is so great that you have your dream job now!! Enjoy that glass of wine 🙂
