I have an oval, but the ratio is 1:35 so it’s more on the ‘chubby’ side which I prefer.

Here is an interesting comparison chart!

I saw pictures of one on , pricescope maybe, and it was beautiful… Like a cross between an oval and marquise, right?

i have one, but it is not incredibly elongated.  The carat size of my ring is 1.75 and I have size 5.5-6 fingers.  I can’t remember the exact ratio, but I want to say it is around Spesh2012’s ratio.    PS This is my first time posting a pic to the Bee so I apologize in advance if the picture is too big!

@LissaBeans:   What’s the difference between an oval, and an elongated oval? (stunning ring, btw!)

I don’t know the exact stats on mine, but it’s about 1.5 carats and I believe the ratio is about 1.5:1. I love it 🙂

Here is mine with a 1:35 ratio(1.21 ct. on a size 5.25 finger) ….

I don’t know if there is such a thing as a regular oval and an elongated oval … I just think the larger l/w ratios would fall under the ‘elongated’ category.  I personally wouldn’t go any higher than 1:40.  It’s all personal preference.

Sometimes people ask if mine’s a marquis but I also think it’s because of the 6 prong setting giving it points on its top and bottom 🙂

@SuzySchmoozy:  Spesh2012 is right…there’s really no “elongated oval” cut, but the ratio of the cut will change the look of the oval substantially.  I just realized how sausagy my fingers look in that picture, eeeeesh.

Everyone’s rings are beautiful!!!

Spesh2012:  I LOVE your ring! I have seen it on pinterest a lot recently but can’t seem to find the designer! Do you know who it is?

Thanks

I have an “elongated oval”, meaning its ratio 1:42, I love it and its personal preference, I like oval from 1:35 to 1:4, techinically an ideal oval ratio is 1:5, but it’s all preference!

My 1.01 carat oval has a 1.41 lenth to width ratio. So I guess it is slightly elongated. I knew I didn’t want a short chubby oval but didn’t want a super skinny oval either.

This thread is super old, but since other bees have posted on it recently I figured why not. Maybe it will get revamped and turn into an awesome oval thread!
