So for years I have always thought I wanted short fun flirty dresses for my BMs on mine and Mr. Xrays big day…. and After Six seems to have created to perfect one for that vision….
Tho instead of White it would be Navy with the black lace… I have been drooling over this dress since it launched on the website and anxiously waiting for a store in my area to have a sample…. Well this Saturday one of them did! So we sprung on the chance to go see it! It was gorgeous so much fun and playful and just all around gorgeous on my 2 of 4 maids that were available to come see it. THen a little bombshell one of my MOH is in TTC (Yay Yay YAY!!) super exciting but throws a bit of a kink into this dress as we look into altering it to a empire and by the time your said and done…. the cost was CRAZY!!!! so while browsing thru the racks i saw one (really not paying to much attention seeing it had an empire waist and lace accents even tho it was floor length pulled it just for fun to get an idea… Now this was Chiffon not Satin floor length not short….
And it was STUNNING elegant floor length chiffon beauty!!! at first i was like there was no way we could sneak a baby bump under that and lo and behold it holds one Beautifully!!! (yes we snuck a pillow from another friend who just had her to take shopping and it was gorgeous they even suggested that we order it a size bigger than the one that fit the bump in case and all we do is cinch at the empire waist for a perfect stunning baby bump fit!!! and can create a beautiful modesty panel (as it was a little va va VOOM) for that extra coverage…..
Help me bees…. im torn do i go for the fun flirty youthful dress with pockets that I would then prob need to find another dress all together to go with a beautiful baby bump??? or do i go with the stunning floor length creation that made even a baby bump look like a super model!!!!

You could also consider putting your MOH in a different dress than the other BM’s. I do LOVE the long ones. I’d wear that again in a heartbeat if I were in your wedding! 🙂

I really like the short dresses and would personally rather have that in my closet. However, when do you need to order? Could the other girls order now and MOH hold off a couple more months then if she is expecting, she could wear the long dress (cordinates really well with short and she IS the MOH) and if not, she could order the short one maybe 3 month out? This way she could go up a size just in case but generally know she won’t have a large bump.
What do your BMs prefer?

The short one is super cute and I know if I was in the wedding I would want to wear it 🙂 It’s not uncommon for a MOH to get a different dress and look you already found one! I think they look good together!

You said your MOH is ttc. She may very well not be pregnant–not everyone gets pregnant exactly when they want to. Can you hold off ordering for a while? Or order the dresses for the rest of the girls and then if MOH is pregnant either go for the alterations or find her a different dress? I love the first one!

I like the idea of putting the moh in the long one if she’s the preg one. If not would the first one work for her? They go pretty well together so anything will work.

I love the first one but the second one is absolutely stunning.
I would have my BMs in the long one and wear the first one in white as my wedding dress. So cute!

They can always cut the length off if they wanted to keep wearing the dresses

Thanks for the advice ladies, its always tough (especially the sticker shock for them!) Everyone loves the floor length one, and we dont have to order till Nov which is nice since its a May wedding. which gives time to save some pennies for the floor length one. The only thing is i have 2 MOHs and 2 Bms and originally i was looking for 2 dresses on for one set the other for the other set (as two seem to have more opinions vs the other two that just want me to be happy) The only thing that is holding me back now is the $$$$ as of now our wedding has been great about being UNDER budget and this is the only thing so far that is now above budget (and 3 out of 4 are totally ok with it its telling #4 that I am realy worried about her having a difficult time with it)
BLAH!!!!!! idk what to do!

The cost isn’t any less if you alter the long version of the first into an empire waist right? (You do know theres a long version of that one I hope?)

PS how much is the short one?

I LOVELOVELOVE the long dress. Then again I’m partial to long dresses 😀

I think it’s hard to find something you love, that all your bridesmaids can afford, and look good in. I voted for the 2nd dress – I think it’s fine to have them all wear the same dress, because you can accessorize them differently, your MOHs could wear different accessories, or have different hair or something that sets them apart from the other bridesmaids.
Or you could have the MOHs wear the long dresses, and bridesmaids wear the short ones. I’m assuming that the alterations to empire waist was only for MOH who may be pregnant? So if she wears the long dress, the other dress would not have to be altered, just ordered in navy blue which would reduce the cost of the dress. Would that cost be okay with your bridesmaid?

Yea, the nice thing is we do get a discount from my bridal salon since i purchased my dress there the short one is 210 and the long is 250 (with out any alterations) the alterations to the first to make it an empire and add length since it wouldnt be worth ordering in the long and then altering brought it up way past the 300 mark where as the 250 doesnt need any alterations for her the only thing discussed was adding a modestly panel to the scoop neck only cause it did leave very little to the imagination.

I like the short one better, because I’d most likely wear that one again.
