I like the cushion, but it depends on what you want to do/ how much you want to spend or save.
I love cushion cuts and am not a fan of the emerald cut, so I guess I'm not much help :/ I personally think the ring's look would be changed if you were to use an emerald cut. Also, I think you should love your ring, and if you aren't a fan of emerald cuts (even if you don't hate them) you might not end up loving your ring down the road. Go for the cut you love the most, even if it means going down a little in size to save money.
Although I do love your choice of aquamarine (March baby here :p)!!
I heard something quoted a while back that I think speaks volumes of truth:
"A deal is only a deal if you are getting exactly what you want."
Food for thought!! ;)
I have an emerald cut diamond, but for an aquamarine, I would totally go with a cushion cut. So much prettier!! That ring is beautiful, and I don't think it would be as pretty with an emerald cut gem.
I agree with littlemissmango. If you get a shape you dont want is it really worth the deal?
I come from a family of jewelers and thought i would give my input-- I love cushion cut stones, i actually was hoping to get one myself. I also, ironically love the look of an emerald cut, but what i came to find out was that unless you have an extremely good quality stone that is cut very well it does not have the shine and radience of the other cuts. When it is done right, and has a good color and grade, the emerald is breathtaking, buttt if there are any concerns It is most definately a safer bet to go with the cushion. I am not completely sure in terms of aquamarine, but i do have a 2ct blue cushion cut topaz in a pendant and it is so brillant and sparkely it almost looks fake. I can only imagine how gorgeous it would be in a ring.
Also I totally second Littlemissmango! Great, great way to put it!
Thank you to all!
I felt that way Littlemissmango but I wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one. I just think that it will make me feel like I settled. I don't care about the price because it is only a couple hundred more for a cushion cut. To me no big deal to get what I want.
Stormala thank you for all your knowledge. I appreciate it.
Maybe I will start looking for cushion cut aquamarines myself. Maybe I can find a deal or something. Does anyone know where to buy some quality stones?
Yay :) I also think it will look much better as a cushion shape-wise, and that if the emerald is cheaper, it won't be better quality/look as good as the cushion will (because of what Stormala pointed out).
I would check out this link for some good colored stone vendors and shop around. Good luck!
i don't kn how u feel but i hate emerald cuts.if u dont like it now what makes u think u'll like it later.i love cushion cuts .if i were u i i'd look for somthing i love rather than somthing thats cheaper.
So, more news to put a damper on my happiness. So my jeweler calls me today and tells me that the diamonds are not of good quality and she wouldn't recommend putting them in another setting. She basically doesn't want her name on the work. She said she will buy them from me and give me 300 for it and she will give me a good discount on something she has in her store. I don't know what to do. I will probably sell the diamonds because I don't want to go through this again but has anyone else had any problems when getting their ring custom made. I mean really, I just feel like it is a major sign that it is not meant to be. I don't know, I am about to give up. I can't even cry anymore, there is no more tears.
I have a 1 ct trillion cut Aquamarine and it doesn't shine at all. I have a 3.5 ct Aquamarine in the emeral cut and I am often asked if it is a diamond because like all good aquas it is light in color and it is hard to tell it's blue until I point it out. I vote Emerald cut.

So I am in the process of getting my ring custom made and my jeweler says he can save me some money by switching what center stone I get. He said instead of getting a cushion cut aquamarine he can get me an emerald cut aquamarine for half the price. I am not a huge fan of emeralds but I don't hate the idea. What do you think should I keep looking for a cushion cut or should I go with the cheaper option? Please help!!
